One of My Favorite Quotes...

“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”

My Hands on the Pantech Reveal Phone

Just recently, I got my hands on the AT&T branded Pantech Reveal to check out and play with. There's two options for the Pantech Reveal, a red or blue one. I just happen to be checking out the red one. Now, It's no BlackBerry, but the short time I did have my hands on it seemed to be a very good option for those that don't want to spend the money on a Smartphone and a data package that's usually required...

Pantech Reveal (red) Cell Phone from AT&T

The Pantech Reveal is a slider, revealing the QWERTY keyboard. I'm not a big fan of touch screens, but a big fan of physical QWERTY keyboards like BlackBerrrys and the like. So, naturally the Reveal started to sing to me. Another plus that stood out was the physical dial pad on the out side. You don't have to slide the phone open to make calls and such. And I believe that's the biggest selling point, the dual keypads... more photos here.

Pantech Reveal (red) Cell Phone from AT&T

This phone seems to be a great starter phone to find out what exactly are your needs. Especially before jumping right into the Smartphone arena with HTC, iPhone and BlackBerrys without knowing your needs. In a sense, a great basic messaging phone... more photos here.

Pantech Reveal (red) Cell Phone from AT&T

But, I'll tell you this... as much as this is a great basic messaging phone, I wouldn't feel comfortable with it with heavy use. I really don't think it can take that type abuse like a BlackBerry, HTC, Palm, etc. Unfortunately, I also don't think this would be a popular choice for the hip, technically savvy and younger crowd. Other than that, this phone is perfect for someone who wants a reliable, no-hassle voice and messaging device that looks nice and has the basic useful features...

13 Things Your Burglar Won’t Tell You

* Got this email from a friend. Interesting stuff I must say...

1. Of course I look familiar. I was here just last week cleaning your carpets, painting your shutters, or delivering your new refrigerator.

2. Hey, thanks for letting me use the bathroom when I was working in your yard last week. While I was in there, I unlatched the back window to make my return a little easier.

3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste …. and taste means there are nice things inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always make me wonder what type of gaming system they have.

4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes you to remove it.

5. If it snows while you’re out of town, get a neighbor to create car and foot tracks into the house. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead giveaway.

6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don’t let your alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it’s set. That makes it too easy.

7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom-and your jewelry. It’s not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too.

8. It’s raining, you’re fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to lock your door-understandable. But understand this: I don’t take a day off because of bad weather.

9. I always knock first. If you answer, I’ll ask for directions somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don’t take me up on it.)

10. Do you really think I won’t look in your sock drawer? I always check dresser drawers, the bedside table, and the medicine cabinet.

11. Helpful hint: I almost never go into kids’ rooms.

12. You’re right: I won’t have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it’s not bolted down, I’ll take it with me.

13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm system. If you’re reluctant to leave your TV on while you’re out of town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the flickering glow of a real television.

8 MORE THINGS A BURGLAR WON’T TELL YOU:

1. Sometimes, I carry a clipboard. Sometimes, I dress like a lawn guy and carry a rake. I do my best to never, ever look like a crook.

2. The two things I hate most: loud dogs and nosy neighbors.

3. I’ll break a window to get in, even if it makes a little noise. If your neighbor hears one loud sound, he’ll stop what he’s doing and wait to hear it again. If he doesn’t hear it again, he’ll just go back to what he was doing. It’s human nature.

4. I’m not complaining, but why would you pay all that money for a fancy alarm system and leave your house without setting it?

5. I love looking in your windows. I’m looking for signs that you’re home, and for flat screen TVs or gaming systems I’d like. I’ll drive or walk through your neighborhood at night, before you close the blinds, just to pick my targets.

6. Avoid announcing your vacation on your Facebook page. It’s easier than you think to look up your address.

7. To you, leaving that window open just a crack during the day is a way to let in a little fresh air. To me, it’s an invitation.

8. If you don’t answer when I knock, I try the door. Occasionally, I hit the jackpot and walk right in.

Organic Cupcakes from Cups of La Jolla

This rainy Sunday in San Diego, we wanted something sweet to go along with our hot coffee. What better snack to go along with our coffee? You guessed it, cupcakes. This time we ended up getting these delicious cupcakes from Cups in a beautiful community in San Diego called La Jolla...

Delicious Cups' Cupcakes from La Jolla

For some reason cupcakes have been the IT thing for me right now. It might be the fact that they're bite size, portable and don't really need any utensils to eat them. And incase you haven't noticed, we also bought these cupcakes to-go instead of eating inside the store...

Delicious Cups' Cupcakes from La Jolla

Here's some content taken off Cups website for some added info...

"Cups is an organic cupcakery and lounge with a mouth-watering assortment of cupcakes and hot and cold drinks on Girard Avenue in the Village of La Jolla, California.

Everything we serve is made in-house with the highest quality, local, sustainable, organic ingredients – from our Cups, to our already-famous strawberry milk “on tap” and house-made chai tea blend."

We bought a dozen of the smaller cupcakes in four different flavors. They had the regular size cupcakes, but since it was our first time and just wanted to sample them, it was best to just get the smaller ones, called Minis, for now. Besides, their cupcakes were priced on the higher side compared to other establishments in the County.

The flavors we got are the Red Velvet. The Peanut Butter Cup that has dairy-free chocolate cup with creamy peanut buttercream. The Death by Chocolate that's truffle filled chocolate cup and topped with rich dark chocolate frosting. And the Chocolate Milk that's vanilla cup, topped with light and creamy chocolate buttercream frosting. I'm telling you, all pretty darn good.

Delicious Cups' Cupcakes from La Jolla

I liked the Red Velvet and the PB Cup cupcakes. So yummy and moist! These cupcakes were really bite size. At first I tried to take a bite out of it, but that didn't work out too well. But since I'm a dude, I basically just popped one in my mouth. It's really that small. At least for the Red Velvet and Chocolate Milk was. They're full of flavor in one whole bite. Just the way I like it...

All in all, I would go back there again if I'm in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to get some cupcakes. They're also a bit more expensive than other places, but they do have deals ever now and then, which is nice. And they do look like a much more hipper and cool place to hangout and relax.

A Delicious Dozen Babycakes Cupcakes

Cupcake shops have been the rage for some time in San Diego and Southern California. At least it has been in the last couple years. If you've read my posts before, you know I love desserts. So this time I bring you a dozen of these delicious cupcakes from Babycakes. Instead of dining in and taking in the ambiance of the store location in a small vibrant community of Hillcrest in San Diego, we had these to-go. Out of the dozen cupcakes there were six different flavors...

Babycakes Cupcakes from Hillcrest, San Diego

The six flavors that we bought are Red Velvet, Hazelnut, Pomegranate, Black Bottom, Mocha and Guava/Mango. Out of the six gourmet cupcakes that were in the box, I've tasted four. I didn't get the chance to taste the Guava/Mango and Mocha. My favorite of the bunch is either the Red Velvet or the Black Bottom...

Babycakes Cupcakes from Hillcrest, San Diego

The following pictures are the ones I call my favorite. Red Velvet and Black Bottom. Everyone knows what Red Velvet is all about, cause that's basically a given/standard at any cupcake place. Black Bottom is something new to me and knew I had to try it. The Black Bottom cupcake is a chocolate cake with cream cheese, raspberry and chocolate chips. The cream cheese and description of what it consists of was good enough for me. Yummy...

What I like about the Babycakes cupcakes is that they weren't too sweet but yet still flavorful and moist. The ones I've tried weren't dry like some others I've tried...

Another thing I love about cupcakes in general is that they are fulfilling and just enough for one person. Even though I can definitely eat more than my fair share. Well, I'm going to end it with this, it was so GOOD!!!

Philly Frank's Cheese Steak Sandwich

A couple days ago, I wanted to try something different and new. My brother heard about a spot for some great Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches that are pretty darn close to the real thing right here in San Diego. Well, not exactly San Diego, but outside in another city called San Marcos. And this friend/coworker pointed us to Philly Frank's Steaks...

Philly Frank's Cheese Steak Sandwich in San Marcos

The store is located right off the 78 and Rancho Santa Fe in a shopping complex. Since, we didn't know the area and we're from South San Diego, you would think it would be smart to bring directions or at least a phone number to call. But no, my brother used his powerful memory to get us there. Besides, he's a CSUSM Alumni and should the know the area right? Nope, got lost and had to pull out the BlackBerry to save us...

We eventually made it to Philly Frank's Steaks. If I didn't use the BlackBerry we would never found it. It's tucked inside a shopping complex with basic simple signage that we can't see from the street. Very mom and pop-ish.

As we enter, we went straight to the counter to order. But, since this is our first time there and we normally don't eat cheese steaks, it took us awhile. I guess that our time looking over the menu board made us look like newbies. A regular customer took note and asked us if we've been here before and gave us the run down on how it works. He even suggested us what we should try since it is our first time...

I really wish we caught his name. He recommended we try the Cheese Steak 50/50 wit Cheez Whiz and American with onions. Which was also recommended be the waitress taking our order. We also ended up getting a small basket of fries and drinks.

Now, I got to make this clear. I'm not a connoisseur of cheese steaks and never claim to be since I don't really eat them. I always say I only know bad, good, better and best. And I would say that it's up there with the better and best. It's not too greasy like the ones I've eaten before, even though those were great too. The flavor in the beef was delicious...

Here's my brother eating in silence, trying to be cool in front of the camera, knowing that he may fall victim to my blog. But we got to block out his face because we're undercover food bloggers/reviewers. HAHA...

After eating some delicious cheese steaks from Philly Frank's Steaks, Original Cheesesteak and Hoagie Shop in San Marcos it was time to head back south to San Diego in the dreadful afternoon traffic. At least out stomachs were full and had the opportunity to taste what Philadelphia natives say is pretty darn close to the real thing if not the real deal.

Yummy Piece of Chocolate Mousse Cake

Here's a couple flicks I took of a "Chocolate Mousse Cake" that I just ate. I'm telling you, it really is a weakness of mine. And as usual, the pictures don't do the cake any justice. After all, how do you take a picture of DELICIOUS?!? You just can't. Trust me...

Yummy Piece of Chocolate Mousse Cake

The chocolate mousse cake is about the size of CD and piped with buttercream frosting around its edges as well as a dab right in the middle. You can also see small chocolate shavings sprinkled around the same edges as the buttercream to give it some contrast.

Yummy Piece of Chocolate Mousse Cake

This cake is made for a one person serving size. But I'll tell you though, it's plenty enough for a few others too. As much as I love sweets, it did kind of tasted a bit too sweet for my taste and made sure to have a bottle of water close by.

Yummy Piece of Chocolate Mousse Cake

I really need to get some help with this, as you can tell. HAHA. Maybe some type of dessert anonymous group I can attend. But then again, do I really want to be around a group of people talking about dessert? It'll just have my mouth salivating at the thought of delicious sweet concoctions and having to leave the group early heading to the nearest store. So yummy!!!

Bottles of alcohol... now who's thirsty?

My sister just came back from her vacation to Mexico on a Cruise Ship and brought back a few bottles of alcohol. A bottle of Sheridan's Coffee Layered Liqueur. And I must say, the bottle design is pretty original and haven't seen anything like it. It keeps both liquids separated until the pour, which is pretty neat. Then you have the Amarula - Marula Fruit Cream, a product of South Africa. I was told that this was a sweet drink. More or less, a great after dinner drink as people tend to do with Bailey's Irish Cream...

Bottles of alcohol... now who's thirsty?

And of course you have to get tequila if you're in Mexico. This tequila happens to be made from Hacienda Dona Engracia. It's the Agave Infusion Ketzally in Almond flavor. I'm not a tequila guy myself, but I'm pretty curious and wouldn't mind giving it shot. Now I got to find a reason to taste this stuff. Not that I need one also...

So, I just snapped a couple quick flicks to share with everyone. I haven't had the chance to taste any of these yet. Hopefully sooner than later...
