One of My Favorite Quotes...

“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”

Visualnewbie.com: An Armed Society is a Polite Society!

I know there’s been a lack of updates, but I’m working on that. I promise…

Here’s a new design, “An Armed Society is a Polite Society!” T-shirt that has been added to Visualnewbie.com for some time now. And it’s only now that I’ve actually have the time to give a brief introduction to it. It seems to be a popular product. It’s a similar design to the “Peace Through Superior Firepower” T-shirt design that I’ve created ages ago and that I also have for sale. So here it is…

Visualnewbie.com: Scratch and Sniff!

Here’s a new design on Visualnewbie.com that was just recently added. I call it the “Scratch & Sniff” Pine-Fresh air freshener t-shirt. It’s not exactly a scratch and sniff, but it sure would be funny to see others try to scratch and sniff it. Besides, I can’t be the only one to have thought about wearing one of those Pine-Fresh air fresheners for kicks. Now, instead of wearing it around your neck, you can wear it like this shirt.

POTD: Put Your Charger Game Face On!

With this week being the San Diego Chargers’ bye week and Halloween being yesterday, I had to do something Charger related and positive to make these long two weeks go by quickly. Football isn’t the same when the Chargers aren’t playing. It also doesn’t help that we’ve lost two games in a row and that it’s four weeks on the road. So, stay positive Bolt Fans, put your game face on! It’s not over yet!

At Visualnewbie.com, a sister site of CommunicatingIdeas.com, we’ve got you covered. Here are some new designs for those going Green and wants to show the world that they care about the environment. We also have a new design that says Thank You and Salamat, which means thank you in Tagalog, the language in the Philippines.

Thank You and Salamat Grocery Bag – Shirt Design

2) “Thank You” and “Salamat”. Ever had a day when you feel like you want to be a grocery bag? I haven’t, but if I did, I now know where to get a shirt that has that same design. I even designed one for my fellow Pinoys and Pinays. One that say’s “Salamat”. For those you don’t know, salamat means thank you in Tagalog. Visualnewbie.com: Tailgate, Filipino, and Flashlights! New Shirt Designs!

Tailgate, Filipino, Flashlights! What do these have in common? Nothing really, except that they’ve just been added to Visualnewbie.com. Below are images of what the designs look like as well as a description.

 Tailgate Shield – Shirt Design

1) Tailgate Shield. I created this for all the tailgaters out there. And I’m one of them and proud of it. Go BOLTS!!!

Filipino Sun and Stars Shirt Design

2) Filipino Sun and Stars. There are many shirts out there that use the basic sun and star design from the Philippine flag. I wanted to use my more updated sun as the focal point. Mixing it up is the name of the game right now. I’m trying to set myself and my designs apart from all the others.

Ultimate Flashlight Junkie – Shirt Design

3) Ultimate Flashlight Junkie. Yes, there are people out there that love flashlights. Myself included. What can I say, I love tools and a flashlight is a tool. It has a similar design from my previous shirt, “Flashaholic”, but just changed the words a bit. It’s my way of showing people the light. :)

Other designs are on the way. Continue to visit CommunicatingIdeas.com for the latest news on Visualnewbie.com. Or just visit Visualnewbie.com directly.

POTD: Car Gets T-Boned on Freeway!

For today’s photo of the day, a car gets t-boned by a truck. This accident happened on the same day (2008.10.17) as the Bay Terrace canyon fire near Morse High School. This occured on the Southbound 5 during rush hour traffic. This also happened to be pretty close to the Civic Center exit. It makes you wonder, how the heck does a car get t-boned on the freeway?

POTD: “Super Scooper” Aircraft during Bay Terraces Fire Near Morse High School

Well, it’s fire season for us located in Southern California. These canyon fires are nothing new for us living in the Bay Terrace/Paradise Hills area, but sometimes it does hit home. I took a series of photos as a couple of these “Super Scoopers” flew right above us on their way to the Sweetwater Reservoir for refills yesterday. And wow, they got real close as you can see from the photo. I couldn’t get it the first time when they even got closer. Picture that...

Visualnewbie.com: New shirt designs added!

Chokeland Fader Hater

Flashaholic – Ultimate Flashlight Junkie

Here are some new t-shirt designs from Visualnewbie.com.

1) Chokeland Fader Hater. Hating Since Forever! An Official Tradition! It’s a must have shirt/gift for those hating the Oakland Raiders. Great for wearing at any bar, game, tailgating event you can think of. It’s a great conversation piece too. If you love this, check out the “Faders Suck! Commitment to Excrement!” t-shirt design as well. You know it’s our duty as San Diego Charger, Denver Broncos, and Kansas City Chief Fans to hate on this team. Heck, everyone in the league should join us and hate on them.

2) Flashaholic, Ultimate Flashlight Junkie. As a guy, we love hobbies and tools. A flashlight is both. What’s more to like? This makes it the ultimate gift for anyone that loves flashlights, besides a flashlight itself.

Come back here to CommunicatingIdeas.com or Visualnewbie.com for the latest updates on what’s new.

Vote Red, Blue, and Green! T-Shirt Design

Here at CommunicatingIdeas.com, we’re in the voting spirit. We’ve created some new voting t-shirts for Visualnewbie.com. 1) Vote Red! Vote Republican! 2) Vote Blue! Vote Democrat! 3) Vote Green! Vote Green Party! It’s the perfect gift/gear for any Republican, Democrat, and Green Party member.

Visualnewbie.com: Vote Flag Shield T-Shirt

Vote Flag Shield T-Shirt Design

What can I say, I love this country. I’m excited about voting this coming November. So excited, I designed a new shirt for those who also want to encourage others to go out there and vote. It’s a shirt that demonstrates that you don’t have to be a Republican, a Democrat, a Libertarian, or a Green Party to vote or have an opinion and know how to use it. Show the young ones how important it is to exercise your rights. Rights that many people from other countries wish they had.

Check out the shirt and other products with this design HERE! Or click on the photo of the shirt. Also, check out the whole store with other cool designs at Visualnewbie.com – Urban Apparel.

Make sure to come back soon, here at CommunicatingIdeas.com for up to date info on other designs. Other designs are in the works/completed and should be added soon.

Visualnewbie.com: Republican and Democrat Vote! Shirt Design

Republican and Democrat Vote! Shirt Design

Republican! Vote red! Democrat! Vote blue! Republicans and Democrats, show off your support by voting red or blue! Let those Republicans and Democrats know which side of the party line you side on. Here are some new Democratic and Republican Party T-shirts and gifts to give recognition to your Party affiliation. Support the Democrat or Republican Candidates and their party with our products.

Here’s a direct link to the products… Here’s a link to Visualnewbie.com.

Well, it’s almost that time of year where we all should exercise our rights. Many people out there don’t and it truly is a shame. It really doesn’t matter who you vote for, at least to me, as long as you go out there and do so. We all can agree to disagree...

I really don’t like the feeling of millions of our citizens not caring enough about this great country. After all, those men and women getting voted into office work for us. That’s right, they work for us! We’re their boss and our voice needs to be heard! When our employee doesn’t get the job done, we do something about it! Now is our chance... So, go out there and vote.

Visualnewbie.com: Faders Suck! Commitment to Excrement! Fan Gear!

Faders Suck! Commitment to Excrement!

Here at CommunicatingIdeas.com, we’re Charger fans! As Charger fans, it’s a tradition, our duty to look down on the Chokeland Faders, I mean Oakland Raiders. So much so, I decided to design a shirt, “Faders Suck, Commitment to Excrement!”. Some may say it’s immature, I say it’s all in fun. The best part of the game is the rivalry. Besides, it’s the team everyone loves to hate, besides the New England Patriots.

So, show off your fan gear to others around you about how you truly feel on game day or while tailgating before an event about that team that sports the silver and black. Heck, it doesn’t need to be a special day to wear this. As a fan of a rival team, these shirts get a lot of attention and become the talk of many conversations and it should. Because it’s a great looking shirt and any shirt that looks down on the Faders is a good shirt. So, sport this shirt and chant “Faders Suck!” because they have the “Commitment to Excrement”. Your fellow fans will love you!

Not only Charger fans are wearing this shirt, but also Denver Bronco fans and the Kansas City Chiefs fans. You see, fans from other teams have the same hatred towards them, not only the AFC West. But the whole league itself. So, get yours now at Visualnewbie.com before your favorite has to face them.

You can get them right HERE! Or click the image banner above.

Why is it... Why is it? (Advertisement Quote and Sayings)

I came across this quote/saying in a pamphlet regarding advertisement and found it interesting. I’m a firm believer in the power of advertisement and the way it influences people to do/buy things. Especially days like this, where the economy is down and businesses are reluctant to spend a little to get their names and products out there. Many businesses out there either doesn’t believe or don’t care for advertisement and basically think it’s a waste of time and money. Not here at CommunicatingIdeas.com, we believe in the power.

The old saying, “It takes money to make money” is true for the most part. The sad part is people jump to conclusions, that it takes lots of money to make it. It takes money, but it doesn’t have to be a lot of it. You have to be smart about it. Just a little bit helps and makes all the difference. Especially with the help of the internet, this makes it much easier and cheaper if not free.

Just read the quote and give it some thought. Sometimes a simple quote like this puts things in perspective, even if you don’t believe it. I just thought it was interesting when I came across it and wanted to share.

“Why is it...? A man wakes up after sleeping under an advertised blanket. On an advertised mattress and pulls off advertised pajamas. Bathes in an advertised shower, shaves with an advertised razor, and brushes his teeth with advertised toothpaste. Washes with advertised soap, puts on advertised clothes, drinks a cup of advertised coffee, and drives to work in an advertised car. And then... Refuses to advertise, believing it doesn’t pay. Later if business is poor, he advertises it for sale. Why is it?”

Spotees.com: New “Made In (insert country)” Shirts Available

The last couple of days I’ve been adding some “Made In (insert country)” shirt designs on Spotees.com. I’ve had these designs ready for quite some time, but haven’t found the time to add them ‘til now. Some of the places that are ready for purchase are countries that are in Asia, Africa and the Oceania. Here’s a short list of some of the countries available at the moment; China, Japan, Korea, India, Cambodia, Philippines, Thailand, Armenia, Israel, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Australia, Guam, New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, etc. I've hot linked a few to help get you started browsing.

So, show some pride from where you came from, your birth place or to even send them as gifts. Checkout more when you visit Spotees.com, for all your location apparel.

Here’s a direct link to Spotees.com.

Here’s what’s in the works at the moment at Spotees. I’m going to be adding more countries in the next coming days. These are countries that are in the Americas as well as in Europe. So, keep an eye out for the new updates...which should be soon.

New Project: WeekendAtSanDiego.com

WeekendAtSanDiego.com – Weekend at San Diego

Here’s a new Lapada Solution’s project I’m working on, WeekendAtSanDiego.com (Weekend at San Diego). It’s going to be a work in progress, but I expect big things from this site in these next coming months. The site is going to be about anything and everything about the great city I live in, San Diego. Whether it is the food, nightlife, attractions, politics, Chargers, Padres, or the Aztecs - this is going to be the place to be for great info. The city politics suck, but the city itself is my idea of paradise. As mentioned earlier, it’s a work in progress and is currently being constructed with articles added in every once in awhile for content. So, please keep a look-out to see what’s new...

Toronto Raptors Unveil Third Jersey

On Thursday, September 25th of 2008, the Toronto Raptors released the team’s new alternate road uniform for the upcoming 2008-09 season. They even came up with a new slogan, “Black is the New Red”. With that in mind, you can never go wrong with black. According to the team, the new uniform will be worn a minimum of six times on the road. I have got to say that it looks pretty damn cool and look forward to seeing them play in them. RaptorsHQ has more info on this.

Four Translucent Business Cards

Found some business cards on Flickr...

There’s something about translucent business cards that intrigues me. Maybe it’s the design limitations that one has to look into when designing one. Maybe it’s the challenge of creating a simple design that works not only from the front, but needs to also work from the back. Whatever it is, it grabs my attention and I’m sure it’ll grab whoever receives them for the first time as well.

It’s not everyday you see business cards like these. I think it has a lot to do with business cards being printed for cheap these days. For the amount you would pay for a full tank of gas would get you well over a thousand cards. So, it’s kind of refreshing to see these cards, even though it isn’t new.

Bruce Lee’s Top 7 Fundamentals for Getting Your Life in Shape

Here are Bruce Lee’s top 7 fundamentals for getting your life in shape. I came across this list a few times in a course of a few months. I feel that this is something that needs to be shared with others. The list is both immensely inquisitive and engagingly positive. It’s truly an inspiration to say the least.

I have listed only the quotes, since it’s a great way to open the mind. I didn’t want to add the commentary that came along with it after each quote. I feel it’s more impacting to discover the quotes true meaning yourself, instead of someone spoon feeding their thoughts on it.

To view original post with all the added commentary from The Positivity Blog...

Bruce Lee’s Top 7 Fundamentals for Getting Your Life in Shape

1. What are you really thinking about today?
“As you think, so shall you become.”

2. Simplify.
“It’s not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential.”
“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”

3. Learn about yourself in interactions.
“To know oneself is to study oneself in action with another person.”

4. Do not divide.
“Take no thought of who is right or wrong or who is better than. Be not for or against.”

5. Avoid a dependency on validation from others.
“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you’re not in this world to live up to mine.”
“Showing off is the fool’s idea of glory.”

6. Be proactive.
“To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.”

7. Be you.
“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.”

POTD: San Diego Chargers Fans! It's not over!

The “Photo of the Day” shows the San Diego Chargers navy blue towel. I don’t know what it is about rally towels, but I like them. Only two weeks into the 2008 regular football season and I’m pulling my hair. It’s been a tough two weeks, but we got to remember. It’s not how you start, its how you finish. We were in the same position early last season, with a 1-3 record, but made it to the AFC Championship Game. Have faith, GO BOLTS!!!

CommunicatingIdeas.com now on Squidoo

I have just created an account for the blog, CommunicatingIdeas.com, on Squidoo, another social networking site. It’s just one of those things one needs to do in order to make somewhat of an impact in the internet world. Not a large one, but it does help a bit. At least that's what I say to myself. Besides, it’s free and another way to waste my time when I have nothing else to do.

One of the best ways to gain more traffic to your site is to join sites like these. I’m no traffic master, but again, it’s just another social networking site that helps bring exposure in this vast space we call the internet. It only makes sense to do it.

Now, I’m not sure exactly how I’m going to use Squidoo. When I first created the account, I wasn’t exactly sure what it is and what it does. I knew of this site for awhile and that was when it was still in beta form. But I knew it only by name, not function... So far, so good.

Long live cross-promoting!

Check it out!

Origami Business Card Cube and Box

Here’s another fun and interesting way to utilize your extra business cards. I have a ton of them and I’m sure I’m not the only one that has many stashed away for some reason or another. The Origami Business Card Cube is no secret, but I’m sure there are others that haven’t seen it done yet. So, this is a great way to impress others with your origami skills.

How To: Origami Business Card Jumping Frog Version 01

There are many ways to go about creating an Origami Business Card Jumping Frog. Most of these variations come from the same basic folds as well. This version that I’m about to show is the one I grew up with. I’ve started off with this design and figure it should be the first of many to be shared on this Blog.

How To. Origami Business Card Frog 01

It all starts with your standard business card. All it takes is one card. I happen to have a lot lying around and really need to find a way to get rid of them. I needed to create new cards anyways. Standard paper will work, but it won’t jump as well as one that is cardstock.

How To. Origami Business Card Frog 01

Follow the fold markings (red dash marks) on the photo, by folding the top right corner of the business card diagonally down the opposite side. Unfold it and this time fold the top left corner to the opposite side. Unfold it again and now you should see that you’ve created two crease marks making an “X”. Fold the card backwards right through the middle of the “X”. Push in the middle where all the folds meet with your finger and they should all pop in towards the center. It should now look like a small house.

Next, we’re going to create the arms of the frog by folding the loose corners in towards the top corner. The photo below shows where you fold the corners where the dash marks lay.

It should now look like the image below. The photo below also shows the next step by displaying the fold marks. This is what I would consider as the hands part of the frog.

Now we’re going to start to shape the body of the frog. This is somewhat of an athletic/aerodynamic frog. Other variations tend to have a more square-ish type body. But not mine! It’s got to be cool. Continue to follow the fold marks shown below. The body should look almost like a triangle or some would say like an arrowhead.

As you can see below, the frog is starting to take shape. It indeed does look similar to an arrowhead too. What’s next is the forming of the legs. The part that helps launches it into the air. Remember, this origami frog does work, jump. Basically fold the body in half and then fold the bottom half in half again. Just like the photos I provided below.
