It was hot in San Diego yesterday (Sunday) and I mean it was hot with a touch of humidity! I just couldn’t take it much longer and made it my mission to find a nice way to cool down. But we really didn’t know what we wanted to do. All we knew was that we wanted something cold and a place to sit and people watch.
As we were driving, we decided ice cream is what we wanted. Off topic, driving is great thing to do if all you wanted to do is think or gather your thoughts. We decided to head towards downtown San Diego for great people watching, especially tourists. So, on to Ghirardelli for some sweets…
We got to downtown and there was a good amount of people out and about, mainly tourists. Given the fact that it was a beautiful day and hot I was expecting that. If you’re the kind of person that likes to people watch like me, Gaslamp in San Diego is the perfect place to accomplish that.
We finally got to Ghirardelli. It really didn’t take long at all. But when your mind and body wants to cool down with the thought of ice cream in my mind, you just want to get there and fast. Parking is always an issue at the Gaslamp too. We got real lucky and found a parking spot around the block. And thank god for it being Sunday too, since parking meters are not in effect.
I can’t stress this enough! Gaslamp in San Diego is a great place to sit down and people watch! I love it! We grabbed a sweet spot in front of Ghirardelli (picture above) to enjoy our ice cream.
As you can see, the mission has been accomplished! What a great way to treat yourself during a Sunday afternoon. The funny thing is, I think we were in line longer to put in our order than it was to eat them. It was too good! Delicious!!!

One of My Favorite Quotes...
“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”
