One of my favorite places to go to in San Diego for desserts is Karen Krasne Extraordinary Desserts. It’s a popular place to go to when you have a sweet tooth like I always do. But instead of enjoying the atmosphere that Extraordinary Desserts provides, we decided to have it to-go this time.
We ordered three cakes. It was neatly packed and arranged in a way that it wouldn’t get damaged during transport. The open space was stuffed with some type of tissue paper to secure the cakes. We also wanted to eat three kinds of cakes. You know, to have a variety to choose from. The first one…
1) Ivory Royale…
2) White Chocolate Cheesecake…
3) Dolce de Leche…
I’m not a dessert connoisseur, not even close and only know good or bad. And damn was this good! The desserts were rich and dense and you really couldn’t ask for more. In fact, we couldn’t even finish the three delicious cakes we ordered as you can see.
One slice of cake is plenty for one person. The cakes that we couldn’t finish were for two other people besides me. The best thing about cakes is that you can put them back in the frig and bring them out when you’re ready to eat them again. And boy did we get back to them and finished them in no time.

Mobee Cashew Tarts from the Philippines…I love these things!!! So damn good!!! It’s like M&M’s and chips, you can’t just have one! And I’ve been known to kill a whole box myself in one day. But I’m not the only one, I’ve seen others do the same. It’s way too easy to put these tasty treats down…
I have lots of family members going to and from the Philippines. And once and awhile I receive my own package from another relative. I don’t normally ask for anything but for some reason they always send me these delicious cashew tarts. And I’m a sucker for all things sweet… I think I have my mom to thank for letting them know how much I love these things. So, thanks mom!
See, I told you… I almost killed the whole box. If you saw what happened a few minutes after, I made the tarts disappear like a Las Vegas magician. I’m just that good…
What makes the cashew tarts so great is that they aren’t too sweet, but sweet enough. And the crunch you get when biting down on the crust. Love that crust too! Now I just have to wait until someone else sends me these yummy snacks…

I know I’m a bit late on this… this past Saturday, August 15, 2009 was the first game this season. Although this game was only a preseason game, the excitement was still there. The game was pretty much uneventful for the most part, but it actually became a great game that came down to the wire. Unfortunately we lost, but no biggie, it’s just preseason…
I dug out my Charger lanyards with these clear NFL pouches to help protect my tickets since I collect them. It was real painful to detach these tickets from the rest of them. It looked great just having them all together as one. It was frame worthy…
We’re in Charger country here! Home sweet home! It feels great to be back at the Murph, errrrrrr, I mean the Q. Sorry old habits are hard to break. The sight and feel of going into the stadium feels great despite it only being preseason.
Love looking at that large Charger flag as it waves with a slight breeze going through mission valley every time we enter the stadium lot. It was the perfect weather for football and for tailgating, which other people will agree with me from the looks of it.
We get these Tailgate times every time we enter the lot for some light reading to kill time and before the game starts. I didn’t do much reading since I love to people watch. And boy was there some watching to do. Lots of eye candy. I wish I remembered to take some pics, but I was caught up in the moment. I’m sure you’d understand. Maybe next time…
The above photo is a picture of the view I have from my seats. It’s right on the 45 yard line on the opponent’s side. Love my seats!!! If you love to get into to it with opposing fans and heckle with them, this is the area to be. Fortunately, longtime/mature seasoned Charger fans surround my section but I as well as others have a great view of the field level chaos below…
The Chargers are hosting their 21st annual Salute to the Military. Just like the Padres, the Chargers are proud supporters of the military. It’s nice to see this since my dad served in the navy for 20 years as well as my many uncles. It only makes sense since it is San Diego after all. The above photo was during the national anthem. They brought out a huge American flag with members of our armed forces carrying the flag and waving it during the song. It looked awesome…
Something I noticed… they didn’t have the canons go off on the field!?! What the hell was that about? I love it when those canons go off during the National Anthem. It’s something that’s pretty unique to the San Diego Chargers. Bring it back!!! It’s a trip to see new fans flinch every time the canons go off. I love it!
Now I can’t wait for the next home game even though it’s still preseason. It’s against the San Francisco 49ers on Friday September 4, 2009 at 7pm. The wait continues…

The 2009 San Diego Chargers schedule is here! Design and photography are one of my passions. I also love football. So, with football season about to begin for me this coming Saturday, I decided to combine them in such a way…
Below is the 2009 San Diego Chargers schedule that I’ve created, shot and designed. I just felt like being creative yesterday and with football being on my mind, just had to do something. The ones with the yellow backgrounds are the preseason games. The baby blue backgrounds are the home games and the away games being in navy blue…

I have this Lowepro Pixel Pak V1 - Aluminum Memory Card Wallet for awhile now and it’s been doing great for me. It does what it needs to do and that’s to protect my memory cards and to store them. The only problem for me is that I have few open spaces to add more memory cards. The solution, buy more SDHC cards to utilize those pesky open spaces…
The crazy part is that I also ended up buying a SanDisk 8GB CompactFlash memory card for my DSLR camera that I’ll be taking on a future road trip that wasn’t on the shopping list. Only the SanDisk SDHC 8GB memory card was what I originally wanted to buy. But whatever, it is what it is…
When I take pictures, I tend to go overboard and take tons of them. I’ve been known to fill up those cards real quickly and to tell you the truth, I should have bought more. I’m pretty sure more purchases will be made soon…
Now that my Canon PowerShot SD780 IS shoots HD movies, I’ll be able to shoot those in confidence. Knowing that I have a number of extra memory cards, these video clips will be flying out of the camera. Hopefully I’ll be sharing these with everyone in the near future.

Filipino basic sun and stars shirt design. It’s an oldie, but a goodie. As cliché as it is, the design is timeless and represents our culture and heritage in a strong and iconic way. Something us Pinoys and Pinays need sometimes to help express who we are…
I have this design in black, red, blue and yellow. I’ve also placed this design on a variety of products that range from t-shirts, shirts, hats, mugs, bags, etc. It’s a great way to show your pride, culture, and heritage to anyone in a positive way. They make excellent gifts for any Pinoy and/or Pinay for any occasion. Heck, just give it to anyone, the more the merrier. What makes these great is the ability to customize these to fit your wants and needs with a variety of options to choose from.
Come and check out Visualnewbie, Visualnewbie.com, for new Filipino related designs to show off your culture and heritage. Or just come back here, Communicating Ideas for any updates…

I’m still feeling the excitement that football season is basically here! As any football fan, I went through my materials again that the Chargers have sent a few weeks ago that came with the season ticket invoice. I choose to ignore the invoice, but don’t worry; it’s already been paid and forgot about the sticker that they sent me.
The San Diego Chargers gave away these stickers as well as these pretty cool folders. I threw out all the other materials that were in it since I thought they were useless. These were the only things I thought that would make awesome collectors items when we win the Big Game! The Super Bowl BABY!!!
The pictures above are a shot of the folders cover. The logo is the same design as the plastic pouch that contains the “Memory Booklet” where you insert your tickets after each game. It says “San Diego Chargers 50th Anniversary Season” with the years 1960-2009.
Besides the printing, the logo that you see has some texture to it. It has what you call an embossed texture. The camera seems to not be able to capture it…
Then it has some text that spiral around the 50 logo that states when the Chargers have won the AFC West and Conference in chronological order. Pretty neat! I really didn’t notice that until now and overlooked it when I first received them. I love it when people/designers really think about these things. As they say, it’s all in the details…
The photos above are shots of the inside of the folder. Clean and simple. My photos may show it as black, but that’s not the case. It’s actually in the Chargers navy blue with the Chargers 50 logo in a lighter blue. You can also see the embossing effect in one of the photos above that you couldn’t from the front.
Then you have a photo of the traditional/basic San Diego Chargers logo that can be located on the right side flap from the inside of the folder…
Well, that’s it for now. As you can see, I’m pretty damn excited and wanted to share with the world what one of my passions for life are. More to come when the season gets into full swing…
