One of My Favorite Quotes...

“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”

Delicious Turon, Filipino Banana Fritters

Here are some yummy homemade Turons, a Filipino banana roll/fritter snack. Some people call them banana lumpias. HAHA! The family was craving something sweet to snack on and remembered that we rolled a bunch some time ago that we put in the freezer for a later time. And that time seems to be now...

Delicious Homemade Turon, Filipino Banana Fritters

Turon is a Filipino deep fry snack that's sweet and crunchy and basically a classic in our culture/community. Inside the fritter is sliced bananas lengthwise, jackfruit and brown sugar. Love the caramelized brown sugar! The best part, they're really easy to make. Do a Google search and you'll find recipes to get you started...

Delicious Homemade Turon, Filipino Banana Fritters

When eating Turon, they remind me of eating chips. You can't just eat one. In fact it's really hard for me to just eat one and usually would just grab a couple to satisfy me for the time being. Since the flicks were taken a few days ago, I'm thinking of starting up the frying pan to cook some up to please my sweet tooth. I guess we'll see...

Seagate 2TB Expansion External Drive

I got my hands on the Seagate 2TB Expansion External Drive from a friend for a few days to give it a look over and a run. This is not a review in the typical sense, but a review through photos and comparing it to other like models that you may not be able to see from other photos. Cause, let's be honest, there are many reviews out there and not enough photos. So, I bring you the next best thing besides having the product in hand... more photos here.

Seagate 2TB Expansion External Drive

Seagate 2TB Expansion External Drive

As you can see, the Seagate is covered with some plastic overlay to protect the glossy finish of the hard drive. Didn't want to remove it because it isn't mine. But when taking a sneak peek of it at one corner, I can tell you that it looks great but would be worried of it getting scratched from moving it one location to another... more photos here.

Seagate 2TB Expansion External Drive

Then you have the photos above and below comparing the size of other external/portable drives that I have available. The Seagate 2TB Expansion is pretty big compared to my 640GB Freeagent Go at the top of the stack of drives. But compared to my Western Digital 250GB external drive, it's pretty small and a lot more sleeker and modern... more photos here.

Seagate 2TB Expansion External Drive

The Seagate 2TB Expansion drive was running great for the time I've ran it and uploaded things to it. At least for the short time I've had it. The drive is basically going to be used with the Seagate Theater as an expansion to his other 500GB Freeagent Go. I'm sure he's going to have a blast with it as an addition to his home theater setup.

I'll be adding a post about the Seagate Theater setup I have also in the next coming posts along with the Freeagent go portable drives. If you're interested in some of these products and any of the products in the background, check out the following links...

The Expendables Movie Poster, I Love it

I just came across "The Expendables" movie poster and I'm really digging it! With the guns and knives, a few of my passions, fanning out to create some wingspan with a pretty cool looking skull in the middle. Very pleasing to the eyes I must say...

The Expendables Movie Poster

But it looks like some creative license is being used in the design by just mirroring the same side of the guns and knives rather than the other side. I guess they're just trying to create balance visually. I would of like to see the other side of the objects to be shown for the sake of paying attention to details. After all, with a movie like this, gun and knife owners are going to be criticizing every detail much more than your average moviegoer. Trust me, these people take their hobbies real serious and have no problem voicing them. I on the other hand want this poster, just to have it, cause it's cool...

Samsung Blackjack and Some Photos

Just recently, I got my hands on the Samsung Blackjack that's unlocked but branded AT&T from a friend of mine, thanks Hoheezee, and he got it from Amazon. He let me borrow it for a bit so that I can take a couple flicks for sake of photo resources, this blog and just to share it with everyone. I really didn't get the chance to play around with it to give you my opinion, but I do know that removing the battery cover was a pain in the you know what. Here are some pics...

Samsung Blackjack i607 and Some Photos

Samsung Blackjack i607 and Some Photos

The next photo of the Samsung Blackjack is right next to my BlackBerry Bold 2 9700 with the Seidio Innocase 2. As you can see, the Blackjack is a bit taller than my 9700. If I removed my Innocase on the 9700, I sure the thinness of both phones are very similar as is the width...

Samsung Blackjack i607 and Some Photos

There's not much to say about this particular phone. I'm sure you can find tons of info that explain in detail the features of what it has to offer better than I can. In fact, I know. I just hope I showcased what the phone looks like that people weren't able to see in other product photos that aren't offered on their respected sites. Looking at the products through my eyes, if you will. More or less just a review in photos...

You can view more detailed photos of the Samsung Blackjack at Lapada Gallery, my photo site. You can also click any of those photos to go directly to the photo gallery.

Pocky Chocolate Biscuit Sticks Dessert

I just did a post on Yan Yan and now I wanted to post about Pocky, yummy chocolate cream covered biscuit sticks. Another childhood favorite of mine. The flavor I have on hand is the Chocolate flavored ones. Traditionally, we find these in cardboard rectangular boxes, but the ones you see here are more or less served in smaller individual size packets. Seven chocolate sticks in each pack and nine packs per package...

Pocky Chocolate Biscuit Sticks Dessert
by Ezaki Glico

Just like Yan Yan, Pocky is a very popular snack/dessert in and from Japan. These delicious snacks can be found in many supermarkets and specialty stores like Asian markets. And again, we ended getting these in a Filipino marketplace called Seafood City in National City...

Pocky Chocolate Biscuit Sticks Dessert
by Ezaki Glico

It is said that the name "Pocky" came from the sound that this delicious crispy snack makes when bitten. I don't know if I buy that, but all I hear when I bite into one is "Crunch". Go figure...

Pocky Chocolate Biscuit Sticks Dessert
by Ezaki Glico

Pocky stick snacks have its traditional favorites like Chocolate and Strawberry, which happen to be mine as well. And also come in many unusual flavors. I'm going to have to take a couple flicks and write about them another time. The really only bad thing about Pocky is that I eat them way too fast. Just way too easy. Maybe it's a good reason that they are served in smaller size packets for people like me...

Yan Yan, A Childhood Favorite Snack

Here's one of my favorite childhood snack of mine, Yan Yan, made by Meiji. What is Yan Yan? Well, Yan Yan is a Japanese snack that can be found in some supermarkets and specialty stores like Asian markets. We bought these at a Filipino marketplace called Seafood City in National City, San Diego. I haven't eaten these in a long time and since these are inexpensive, hungry and I needed something to post about, why not...

Yan Yan, A Childhood Favorite Snack by Meiji

Yan Yan, A Childhood Favorite Snack by Meiji

As you can see, it comes in this unique container with two separate compartments. On one side, you have a tub of chocolate dip and on the other you have the cracker/cookie type sticks. Yan Yan is basically a DYI (Do It Yourself) Pocky snack, which I love also. A review with photos of that soon too. So, be on the look out for that too...

Yan Yan, A Childhood Favorite Snack by Meiji

Yan Yan, A Childhood Favorite Snack by Meiji

Yan Yan is offered in different flavors. The ones in my photos are "Choco". Then you have other flavors like strawberry, milk, and double cream. I happen to love the strawberry flavored ones the best. And it seems many others feel the same way or stick with the Choco flavored ones...

Yan Yan, A Childhood Favorite Snack by Meiji

The Yan Yan cookie sticks have various cartoon styled animals with quotes/messages that relate to them printed right on to the stick. Here are some of the animals and sayings that I got in my package...

Cow - Muuuuu
Fox - Beware of Lies
Mouse - Do Not be Timid
Snail - Snail Mail?
Cat - Say Meow
Seal - Loves to Sun Tan
Squid - Black Ink
Bat - Only in the Night
Rabbit - Eat More carrots
Frog - Amphibian
Chicken - Kokekokko
Chick - Lucky Colour: Yellow

Do you love Yan Yan as much as I do? So, what say you?

Buchi Filipino Bite-Size Dessert Snack

Picked up a tray of buchi to snack on and while it's in front of me I decided to take a couple quick flicks to share. What is buchi? Buchi is a Filipino bite-size deep-fried dough balls filled with either sweet mung bean paste, ube (purple yam), black bean paste, lotus paste, dousha, or red bean paste. All of the fillings are on the sweet side mind up. They're also coated with sesame seeds on the outside and is crisp and quite chewy...

Buchi Filipino Bite-Size Dessert Snack

This Filipino snack, buchi, is probably of Chinese origin since I do see these at Chinese restaurants from time to time. I love these delicious Filipino snacks since they're not too sweet and a few does go a long way...

Buchi Filipino Bite-Size Dessert Snack

I love Filipino desserts and snacks. I could and should post about snacks from the Philippines since I'll a bunch of material to post that will last me for some time. We buy these, well, Filipino snacks in general all the time. So, be on the look out for more photos of these yummy snacks...

California Republic Flag T-Shirt Design

Here's a somewhat new t-shirt design of the California Republic flag. But instead of having the same old boring flag design as you see it, how about having them in solid colors? Making them somewhat a bit more fashionable and cooler to wear. In this case, we at Visualnewbie created 3 variations of the California Flag.

First, we have the whole California Republic Flag design. As mentioned, we have them in solid colors. The colors available are red, brown, black and white.

California Republic Flag T-Shirt Design

Second, is what we call the California Republic Basic flag design. Also in solid colors like red, brown, black and white.

California Republic Flag T-Shirt Design

And the last, but certainly not least is the California Republic Bear flag design. Available in red, brown, black and white.

California Republic Flag T-Shirt Design

These California t-shirt designs are very popular with the young and college crowd. They also have a great presence in the older crowd that wants something different and yet proud of their state, even though the politicians that run this state is screwing and running this state to the ground. The hell with them!!! Anyways, I love this state and I'm sure there are others out there that share the same passion as I do and want to express it in a more fashionable way. Now, here's your chance...

Each design is available on a wide range of products. Products like t-shirts, shirts, mugs, hats, bags, mouse pads, etc. They make excellent gifts for anyone and most definitely any occasion. What makes it even better is that you can customize them to fit your wants and needs. So, go ahead and check them out at Visualnewbie.

A Birthday Cake to eat and to Celebrate

Yesterday we had a birthday cake for my brother even though his birthday was over a week ago. LOL. But it's all good though. Because we also used the cake to celebrate the victory, scratch that, domination that Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao had over Joshua Clottey...

A Birthday Cake and to Celebrate...

So, I just wanted to take a couple flicks of the few slices of cake before we finished it and I'm glad I did. After taking these pics of what was left, we were down to one. Some hungry people after watching the fight...

A Birthday Cake and to Celebrate...

I'm not exactly sure what kind of cake this was, but I do know it came from Vons. A pretty good cake from a grocery store, go figure. The cake itself was light and right, but the icing/frosting can be a bit heavy for some. But of course, I ate the whole thing since sweets is a weakness of mine. But then again, I don't think I needed to remind you that...

A Birthday Cake and to Celebrate...

Again, congrats to Manny Pacquiao, the WBO Welterweight Champion and the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world!!! Go Pinoy!!!

A Zazzle "Z Pro" ProSeller Gift

Just got an unexpected gift from Zazzle today. A Z Pro embroidered black cap. I've been a ProSeller for some time now and this is the first time I've received a gift of any sort besides discounts. So the blogger, Zazzler, designer and photographer me had to post this up and plug a great company like Zazzle and of course ME...

A Zazzle

Take a look of the background. I have my Visualnewbie gallery/store on the monitor and felt it added a great touch to the photo of the Zazzle ball cap...

A Zazzle

It also came with a card with their signature logo and black background and a short to the point message that stated...

"Congratulations ProSeller,

Zazzle is proud to have you as a ProSeller and would like to welcome you into our family.

We continue to be humbled by your creativity, inspired by your entrepreneurial spirit, and we hope to enhance your success through the ProSeller program.

Please accept this as a token of our appreciation.

Very truly yours,
The ProSeller Team"

It felt kind of weird that they're just now sending me this gift for being in the Zazzle ProSeller program when I've been a ProSeller for quite some time now. But nevertheless, the gift that they sent me is truly appreciated and will continue as well as inspired to pump out more designs so that not only I become successful, but Zazzle does too.

Here are some solid colored American flag t-shirt design available in red, blue, black and white. My Hands on the Pantech Reveal Phone

Just recently, I got my hands on the AT&T branded Pantech Reveal to check out and play with. There's two options for the Pantech Reveal, a red or blue one. I just happen to be checking out the red one. Now, It's no BlackBerry, but the short time I did have my hands on it seemed to be a very good option for those that don't want to spend the money on a Smartphone and a data package that's usually required...

Pantech Reveal (red) Cell Phone from AT&T

The Pantech Reveal is a slider, revealing the QWERTY keyboard. I'm not a big fan of touch screens, but a big fan of physical QWERTY keyboards like BlackBerrrys and the like. So, naturally the Reveal started to sing to me. Another plus that stood out was the physical dial pad on the out side. You don't have to slide the phone open to make calls and such. And I believe that's the biggest selling point, the dual keypads... more photos here.

Pantech Reveal (red) Cell Phone from AT&T

This phone seems to be a great starter phone to find out what exactly are your needs. Especially before jumping right into the Smartphone arena with HTC, iPhone and BlackBerrys without knowing your needs. In a sense, a great basic messaging phone... more photos here.

Pantech Reveal (red) Cell Phone from AT&T

But, I'll tell you this... as much as this is a great basic messaging phone, I wouldn't feel comfortable with it with heavy use. I really don't think it can take that type abuse like a BlackBerry, HTC, Palm, etc. Unfortunately, I also don't think this would be a popular choice for the hip, technically savvy and younger crowd. Other than that, this phone is perfect for someone who wants a reliable, no-hassle voice and messaging device that looks nice and has the basic useful features...

13 Things Your Burglar Won’t Tell You

* Got this email from a friend. Interesting stuff I must say...

1. Of course I look familiar. I was here just last week cleaning your carpets, painting your shutters, or delivering your new refrigerator.

2. Hey, thanks for letting me use the bathroom when I was working in your yard last week. While I was in there, I unlatched the back window to make my return a little easier.

3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste …. and taste means there are nice things inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always make me wonder what type of gaming system they have.

4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes you to remove it.

5. If it snows while you’re out of town, get a neighbor to create car and foot tracks into the house. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead giveaway.

6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don’t let your alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it’s set. That makes it too easy.

7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom-and your jewelry. It’s not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too.

8. It’s raining, you’re fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to lock your door-understandable. But understand this: I don’t take a day off because of bad weather.

9. I always knock first. If you answer, I’ll ask for directions somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don’t take me up on it.)

10. Do you really think I won’t look in your sock drawer? I always check dresser drawers, the bedside table, and the medicine cabinet.

11. Helpful hint: I almost never go into kids’ rooms.

12. You’re right: I won’t have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it’s not bolted down, I’ll take it with me.

13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm system. If you’re reluctant to leave your TV on while you’re out of town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the flickering glow of a real television.

1. Sometimes, I carry a clipboard. Sometimes, I dress like a lawn guy and carry a rake. I do my best to never, ever look like a crook.

2. The two things I hate most: loud dogs and nosy neighbors.

3. I’ll break a window to get in, even if it makes a little noise. If your neighbor hears one loud sound, he’ll stop what he’s doing and wait to hear it again. If he doesn’t hear it again, he’ll just go back to what he was doing. It’s human nature.

4. I’m not complaining, but why would you pay all that money for a fancy alarm system and leave your house without setting it?

5. I love looking in your windows. I’m looking for signs that you’re home, and for flat screen TVs or gaming systems I’d like. I’ll drive or walk through your neighborhood at night, before you close the blinds, just to pick my targets.

6. Avoid announcing your vacation on your Facebook page. It’s easier than you think to look up your address.

7. To you, leaving that window open just a crack during the day is a way to let in a little fresh air. To me, it’s an invitation.

8. If you don’t answer when I knock, I try the door. Occasionally, I hit the jackpot and walk right in.

Organic Cupcakes from Cups of La Jolla

This rainy Sunday in San Diego, we wanted something sweet to go along with our hot coffee. What better snack to go along with our coffee? You guessed it, cupcakes. This time we ended up getting these delicious cupcakes from Cups in a beautiful community in San Diego called La Jolla...

Delicious Cups' Cupcakes from La Jolla

For some reason cupcakes have been the IT thing for me right now. It might be the fact that they're bite size, portable and don't really need any utensils to eat them. And incase you haven't noticed, we also bought these cupcakes to-go instead of eating inside the store...

Delicious Cups' Cupcakes from La Jolla

Here's some content taken off Cups website for some added info...

"Cups is an organic cupcakery and lounge with a mouth-watering assortment of cupcakes and hot and cold drinks on Girard Avenue in the Village of La Jolla, California.

Everything we serve is made in-house with the highest quality, local, sustainable, organic ingredients – from our Cups, to our already-famous strawberry milk “on tap” and house-made chai tea blend."

We bought a dozen of the smaller cupcakes in four different flavors. They had the regular size cupcakes, but since it was our first time and just wanted to sample them, it was best to just get the smaller ones, called Minis, for now. Besides, their cupcakes were priced on the higher side compared to other establishments in the County.

The flavors we got are the Red Velvet. The Peanut Butter Cup that has dairy-free chocolate cup with creamy peanut buttercream. The Death by Chocolate that's truffle filled chocolate cup and topped with rich dark chocolate frosting. And the Chocolate Milk that's vanilla cup, topped with light and creamy chocolate buttercream frosting. I'm telling you, all pretty darn good.

Delicious Cups' Cupcakes from La Jolla

I liked the Red Velvet and the PB Cup cupcakes. So yummy and moist! These cupcakes were really bite size. At first I tried to take a bite out of it, but that didn't work out too well. But since I'm a dude, I basically just popped one in my mouth. It's really that small. At least for the Red Velvet and Chocolate Milk was. They're full of flavor in one whole bite. Just the way I like it...

All in all, I would go back there again if I'm in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to get some cupcakes. They're also a bit more expensive than other places, but they do have deals ever now and then, which is nice. And they do look like a much more hipper and cool place to hangout and relax.

A Delicious Dozen Babycakes Cupcakes

Cupcake shops have been the rage for some time in San Diego and Southern California. At least it has been in the last couple years. If you've read my posts before, you know I love desserts. So this time I bring you a dozen of these delicious cupcakes from Babycakes. Instead of dining in and taking in the ambiance of the store location in a small vibrant community of Hillcrest in San Diego, we had these to-go. Out of the dozen cupcakes there were six different flavors...

Babycakes Cupcakes from Hillcrest, San Diego

The six flavors that we bought are Red Velvet, Hazelnut, Pomegranate, Black Bottom, Mocha and Guava/Mango. Out of the six gourmet cupcakes that were in the box, I've tasted four. I didn't get the chance to taste the Guava/Mango and Mocha. My favorite of the bunch is either the Red Velvet or the Black Bottom...

Babycakes Cupcakes from Hillcrest, San Diego

The following pictures are the ones I call my favorite. Red Velvet and Black Bottom. Everyone knows what Red Velvet is all about, cause that's basically a given/standard at any cupcake place. Black Bottom is something new to me and knew I had to try it. The Black Bottom cupcake is a chocolate cake with cream cheese, raspberry and chocolate chips. The cream cheese and description of what it consists of was good enough for me. Yummy...

What I like about the Babycakes cupcakes is that they weren't too sweet but yet still flavorful and moist. The ones I've tried weren't dry like some others I've tried...

Babycakes Cupcakes from Hillcrest, San Diego

Another thing I love about cupcakes in general is that they are fulfilling and just enough for one person. Even though I can definitely eat more than my fair share. Well, I'm going to end it with this, it was so GOOD!!!
