One of My Favorite Quotes...

“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”

Heavenly Cupcakes, Gaslamp, San Diego

More cupcakes! Next stop, Heavenly Cupcakes in Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego. I'm telling you, I'm on a cupcake roll and will soon be an expert on the subject at hand. Ahhh who am I kidding, if anything, I may gain some weight from eating so much of it. But, it's OK since we usually end up getting the minis when we buy a dozen of these delicious bite-size snacks instead of the regular size ones.

This dozen of cupcakes from Heavenly Cupcakes is priced fairly compared to other competitors. Especially the minis. Then we got the taste and the flavor. Out of the all the other cupcake places we've tried, these happen to be the lightest in flavor but still quite moist. I know some people may like that and tend to shy away from desserts that are too sweet, which I think these are perfect for them. I prefer to have things a bit more sweeter...

We ended up getting four different flavors...

Heavenly Cupcakes in Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego

Above: Banana Chip Flavor. Fresh banana cake with mini chocolate chips and chocolate buttercream topped with banana chips. Like I stated earlier, the cupcakes in general tasted really light. With that said, I felt that the banana chips that topped the cake kind of overpowered the whole flavor. Which isn't bad if you're into that thing...

Above: Vanilla Caramel. Vanilla cake with vanilla bean buttercream topped with caramel sauce. This happened to be my favorite out the bunch. I tend to like red velvets, but this cake really tasted great. As a whole, it was also really light with the caramel singing to me. Then again, I really love caramel. Put caramel on anything and I'd probably love it...

Above: S'mores. Chocolate cake with marshmallow buttercream topped with graham cracker crumbs. This cupcake is the one I was really looking forward to. I love s'mores and having that flavor in the form of a cupcake is genius. And to be honest, I was really disappointed. Maybe I was expecting too much out of it. Or maybe it's just hard to recreate perfection. It just didn't work for me.

Above: Red Velvet. Traditional southern red velvet cake with a hint of cocoa topped with silky cream cheese frosting. Not my favorite red velvet that I've tried around the County of San Diego, but definitely not the worst. Again, just a bit too light in flavor for me. I prefer stronger/bold flavors, especially the cream cheese frosting. Maybe I should try that again...

All in all, I would go there again. In fact, plan to go there soon. Besides, they got other great flavors that I want to try out to get my sweet fix. And they're more central to the San Diego region and really close to me with easy access. They may be a bit light for my taste, but the price is really reasonable and that in itself says a lot to me, value.

I'm telling you, I love sweets. I need to get some help before this sickness gets out of control. Some say it's too late. I say damn right! HAHA! Until next time...
