One of My Favorite Quotes...

“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”

Spotees: Your State Says Relax Design

Inspired by the 80's Pop Culture saying of "Frankie Says Relax", I created "Your State Says Relax" for all the states in the great USA. I also have it a bit stylized by having it looked kind of worn and grungy/retro. The image below shows how the design looks. It also shows "California Says Relax", "Florida Says Relax" and "New York Says Relax" as a small sample...

Dinner: Bubba Gump, Universal CityWalk

Decided to make a day trip out to L.A. and do tourists like things. Things like hanging out at the Santa Monica Promenade, Universal CityWalk and you know crawling at a snails pace on the freeway. Actually, a snails pace may be a bit faster. But, I digress. After a long day, we ended up going to Bubba Gump at the Universal CityWalk for dinner...

The last time I been to the Universal CityWalk was a long time ago. I would say over seven years ago and I must say, as much as I recognized the place, there was so much that has changed. And the Bubba Gump restaurant being one of them.

Even though it was getting pretty cold out there and pretty windy, I needed something to cool me down and to wet my whistle. After the waiter gave us the menu run down, he recommended one of the specialty drinks called the Big Easy. And it didn't take much to sell it to us, as we ended up getting it...

Specialty Drinks, Big Easy: Easy is how this refreshing Southern Elixir goes down. Dekuyper Peach, Orange Juice, and Cranberry punched up with Southern Comfort. And you keep the glass. Well, not exactly, I get a new one after the meal.

I ended up getting the Old Fashioned New England Clam Chowder in a bowl as my appetizer. Since I really haven't eaten all day, it was the least I can do to solve the grumbling stomach from creating these weird noises. HAHA! And then there are the entrees. Here are some photos off my BlackBerry and a description of the meal taken off their site...

Fresh Stuffed Trout: Oven baked fresh Trout with a Crab and Shrimp Stuffing, brushed lightly with Lemon.

Mama Blue's Southern Charmed Fried Shrimp: With hot a crispy Fries and Cocktail Sauce for dippin'.

Fresh Red Snapper with Lobster Butter Sauce: Fresh Red Snapper is gently sauteed, laid over a bed of Mashed Potatoes with sauteed Spinach and a creamy Lobster Butter Sauce.

After the great meal, we still had room for dessert. After all, I/we only had fish. I'm a big fan of BJ's Pizookie and Bubba Gump's is basically the same thing. So, we went with that. We also decided to get the Mud Pie also. Let me tell you, the photos they have of their dessert is pretty deceiving. It's a lot big than we thought. Especially for three people...

Chocolate Chip Cookie Sundae: A warm, fresh baked Chocolate Chip Cookie topped with Vanilla Ice Cream, Caramel, Chocolate, Peanuts and Whipped Cream. This alone would of fed three of us fine...

Mud Pie. Basically an ice cream cake topped with whipped cream and chopped nuts. This thing was huge! It could of fed a village some where on this planet! Realistically, it could of fed more than six people fine. It was the size of a small plate.

Needless to say, we didn't finish either of them. Which was unfortunate because it was such a waste. The Chocolate Chip Cookie Sundae was better of the two. And I actually prefer BJ's version of it more. I would say that we ate about a quarter of the Mud Pie and three quarters of the sundae. We could of ate less, but we forced ourselves to eat as much of it as we can. I was stuffed and still felt the fullness the next day.

And as usual, until next time... happy eating!!!

Snacks: Nothing Bundt Cakes, San Diego

Here I sit, trying to find things to post about. It's tough to constantly find topics to show and share. Fortunately, snacks and other delectable treats is fairly common for me and taking photos and posting about them comes pretty easy. This time is no different. And that I bring you "Bundtlet" bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes...

Snacks: Nothing Bundt Cakes, San Diego

I know the title states that the location is in San Diego, but it's not. To be exact, it's in Poway. Some people want specifics. To me, it's the same thing. That's just how us San Diegans are or at least this San Diegan is...

Snacks: Nothing Bundt Cakes, San Diego

Now, on to the cakes. We didn't eat the cakes at the establishment and instead got these puppies to-go to enjoy in the comfort of our home. That's just how we roll and like it most times. So, sometime during the transport of these delicious snacks, it must of tipped over a few times and made a small mess within the container. What would of made some awesome pictures, now not so great. But the good news, it didn't affect the taste. It still tasted good! HAHA!

You see four different containers, but we bought three different flavors. Red Velvet, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and the Classic Carrot cake. Here are the descriptions of the cakes taken off Nothing Bundt Cakes site next to each image...

Red Velvet: This scarlet batter of velvety rich cocoa and buttermilk pays homage to its traditional Southern heritage. Every vibrant red cake dances with chocolate chips and is topped with our signature cream cheese frosting.
Snacks: Nothing Bundt Cakes, San Diego

Classic Carrot: The classic carrot cake you love, studded with pineapple and carrots, and topped with our signature cream cheese frosting. Every bite has the warm, familiar taste of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Snacks: Nothing Bundt Cakes, San Diego

Chocolate Chocolate Chip: Chocolate bliss. This incredibly moist, decadent chocolate cake is packed with chocolate chips and rich, home-baked flavor that's certain to earn sighs of delight.
Snacks: Nothing Bundt Cakes, San Diego

You can kind of see the mess it made during transport. HAHA! But it's all good. It's the taste that mattered most. Out of the bunch, I liked the Carrot flavored one most. I'm a big fan of red velvet, but this one didn't really do it for me. I've definitely had better. Since this isn't the first time trying out Nothing Bundt Cakes, the first flavor I tried from them months ago is still my favorite. It's the White Chocolate Raspberry. I still remember that first bite vividly. It was that awesome!!!

Snacks: Ghirardelli's Hot Fudge Sundae

Over the weekend, it was another perfect day, featuring San Diego's great weather to do some people watching around the Gaslamp District in downtown. I almost forgot how much tourism San Diego gets in the Gaslamp and it was great to see all kinds of people roaming the streets. To add to the view, eating some ice cream from Ghirardelli made it even better...

Snacks: Ghirardelli's Hot Fudge Sundae

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by one of the counter/register workers handing out a sample of their Chocolate Squares to everyone that walks in the doors. I've always loved their candy and am a bigger fan of their ice cream, but I'm not about to turn down some chocolate. No matter how much sugar I'm about to consume. I got the "Milk Chocolate with Caramel Filling" and it was darn good!

Snacks: Ghirardelli's Hot Fudge Sundae

But lets get to the best part. The ice cream! I got the "The World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae" served in a freshly baked homemade waffle bowl. This dish comes with two scoops of vanilla ice cream overflowing with freshly homemade hot fudge, whipped with whip cream, chopped almonds and a cherry on top to complete the sundae. This is my go-to sundae whenever I head over to Ghirardelli. I should try something else, but it's just too good to pass up if you know what I mean...

Man do I love my hometown! It really doesn't get any better than San Diego living! That is all...

Random: New Kicks and New Threads

I'm not one to buy clothes, far from it. But this past week I've been updating my wardrobe for the upcoming summer. A new change of pace sort to speak. I tend to spend money on food, toys, generally just hanging out. So, this is somewhat monumental...

Random: New Kicks and New Threads

And here it is, a small sample of what I was able or should I say remembered to take snapshots of what I added to the closet this past week. Some new kicks and some new tees. I need to pick up quite a bit more things to last me. I know, this is nothing compared to what I've seen out there. But, some people got issues! HAHA!

Random: New Kicks and New Threads

Random: New Kicks and New Threads

And again, this is big for me. I don't typically spend money on the layers that cover my skin, but rather the other more enjoyable aspects of life that do it for me. You know, toys, life, food, etc. And I got to be completely honest with you. I really did enjoy buying all these stuff. So, add that to the list of things that make me happy...

But you know, what's life if you can't spend it to make you and others happy? And I'm pretty damn happy! Man, do I LOVE MY LIFE!!!

Lunch: Wing Stop Chicken Wings

Here's what's for lunch. Wing Stop's lemon pepper and mild. At least it was a couple days ago. MILD!?! Yeah I know, I pretty much can't take any heat in my food or I'll start to break out in a sweat. Trust me, I've built that reputation and it's not a pretty sight. But anyways, here are some flicks to check out...

Lunch: Wing Stop Chicken Wings

Lunch: Wing Stop Chicken Wings

We probably eat Wing Stop one to two times a month and I still can't get enough of it. Especially the honey mustard sauce that they have to go with the lemon pepper wings. So DELICIOUS!!! That is all...

Lunch at Buca di Beppo's in San Diego

First time having lunch at Buca di Beppo in the Gaslamp District in Downtown San Diego. I must say, I was pretty impressed with the whole experience. From everything to the food, the staff, the establishment and even the customers that were seated around us was an absolute pleasure. But then again, they were Padre fans and right now there's lots to be happy about if you know what I mean.

After we ordered some drinks, we were given a basket of bread before the main meals arrive. Eating just a few slices, I knew I had to stop or it would be impossible for me to complete my share of the food.

At Buca di Beppo, they serve family style food that come in two portion sizes. Small and Large. From what I remembered, small feeds up to three and large feeds up to six. So, it was pretty obvious for us to get the small portions.

We ended up getting the Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken. They're breaded chicken breasts stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto, baked and topped with marinara, served on a bed of pesto cream sauce...

And we also got the Baked Rigatoni. The baked rigatoni is a rich meat sauce and spicy Italian sausage tossed with imported Italian rigatoni and lots of mozzarella. It's topped with parmesan and dollops of ricotta cheese then baked to golden perfection.

Today was such a nice/beautiful day. To really make the whole event much better was to have it outside. I wish they had some type of outdoor seating to take advantage of this San Diego weather and to take in some great people watching in the Gaslamp. Maybe next time... well, off to find another spot to try out and blog about.

You know, that's what's so great about having the BlackBerry, never have to worry about a camera. Since it has it's own flash built into it in those low light situations...

Mother's Day at Peohe's in Coronado

Last Sunday was Mother's Day and what a great day at that! The weather was perfect and couldn't ask for more. A great time to spend with the family and that special person I call Mom. Shout out to Mom! Love you Mom!

Since the weather was great, we decided to have lunch at Peohe's in Coronado, San Diego. Love this small city! Did some good fishing out on the pier there. But anyways, good thing we reserved the table the day before or we'd be waiting a bit as it started to pick up when we got there. Quite the crowd. That wouldn't be such a bad thing since there were plenty of people watching to do while you wait...

Mother's Day at Peohe's in Coronado

When we got seated, we got a table out back in a covered patio with a great view of Downtown (San Diego), the Coronado Bridge and bay. Love water views! So, we wasted no time and ordered our drinks and a couple appetizers to get the mood going. The images directly above and below are some samples of what we got.

Above: Calamari. Tender calamari lightly fried and served with sweet and spicy pepper sauce. Below: Coconut Crunchy Shrimp. Large shrimp dipped in tempura batter, coconut and breadcrumbs, then fried.

Mother's Day at Peohe's in Coronado

I really had to hurry up to take these flicks with my trusted Canon Point-N-Shoot. As you can see, there was only two shrimps left after taking a pic of the calamari. That's what happens when you deal with hungry people...

Then, there's the main course...

New York Steak and Wild Mushrooms. Served with wild mushroom Merlot sauce, Maui style onion rings and garlic mashed potatoes.
Mother's Day at Peohe's in Coronado

Callahan Cut Prime Rib (16oz). Severed with garlic mashed potatoes.

Filet Mignon. Grilled, served with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables.

Seared Maine Scallops. Pan seared fresh jumbo scallops, finished in a gringer orange sesame glaze.

Filet and Shrimp...

Well, we also got our drink on too. I don't have any worthy pics of the drinks we had. So, the image above is the aftermath, minus a few glasses. And all in all a good meal on a fantastic day with my great family and of course, the woman that means so much to me, MOM! Love you Mom!

Some Extra Swag from Valkyrie Tactical

Ordered some goodies from Valkyrie Tactical to try to complete the Project AR15 I've been posting about and got some extra swag from them in the package. I received a Valkyrie Tactical patch and tote bag. I've always admire when companies/businesses throw extra goodies into the mix...

Some Extra Swag from Valkyrie Tactical

I don't have a photo of the tote bag by itself, But I did use it as a background for the patch and business card. You can see a part of it, although not much. But the business card is the best. So, check out the card... haha!

Some Extra Swag from Valkyrie Tactical

Here's the info on the card... "God Bless Our Troops...Especially Our Door Kickers." Then it has http://www.valkyrietactical.com/ next. The bottom text says, "Thank you for your business - We support our troops - California gun laws suck". Haha, that's right, CALIFORNIA GUN LAWS SUCK!!! I love it, enough said...

This isn't the first time I've ordered from them and this isn't the first time they threw them in. But it is always a welcome surprise nonetheless. And I will continue to shop there...

Snacks: Kepeng, Filipino Crackers

Took a couple flicks of some yummy Kepeng. What is Kepeng? Well, Kepeng is an old fashioned Filipino cracker topped with a coat of brown sugar. This delicious snack comes from Valerio's Bakery in National City, San Diego, California...

Snacks: Kepeng, Filipino Crackers

Snacks: Kepeng, Filipino Crackers

Kepeng is just one of many delectable Filipino snacks I love to eat and take photos of. But to be honest, as much as I love taking pictures, my love to eat is much more obvious. HAHA!

Project AR15 pt 4: Semi-Complete Rifle

So, here's the latest on the AR15 build. It's a semi-complete rifle. I say semi because some parts need to be replaced to complete the look I'm going for. Like the black KAC rail covers that need to changed out to taupe (tan)...

Project AR15 pt 4: Semi-Complete Rifle

Another reason I say semi is because every build needs to put to the test to see what works and what doesn't. After all, this is a tool and every tool needs to be dependable. I also look to see what works ergonomically. As much as I wanted to like it, I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with the Magpul AVG (Angled Vertical Grip). So, I also have the KAC Hand Stop on hand to try out.

Again, I'm not going to go into great detail about the build until the rifle has been put through its paces. I would say at least a thousand rounds through it. Hopefully that will be soon. As well a ton of up close and personal photos of the complete AR15 build and review.

So, stay tuned...
