One of My Favorite Quotes...

“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”

Visualnewbie: Made in America T-Shirt

This Made in America t-shirt design with the American flag is as basic as it gets. It's also been added to the Visualnewbie collection just recently. Not sure why I haven't created a design like this yet. It's so simple and I've always created patriotic designs for the heck of it. But it's never too late to show some patriotism in any form. So, check it out...

Visualnewbie: Made in America T-Shirt Design

I also created this other design by adding American Patriot for the text to replace the Made in America since we're on the subject of patriotism. So simple, but yet so powerful.

Visualnewbie: American Patriot T-Shirt Design

Each design is available in a wide range of products. They make excellent gifts for anyone for any occasion. Especially holidays like Memorial and Labor Day Weekends and the Fourth of July (Independence Day). Inspiration: Savor the Flavor

Not as poetic and sweet sounding as other quotes, but straight to the point with a slight humor to finish it off. Something like "The grass isn't always greener on the other side" and "Sieze the moment" with a twist...

"You've lived your life ordering cheeseburgers with onions, lettuce, and ketchup. One day, you taste a cheeseburger with onions, lettuce, and mustard. And you love it. But you're torn because you're a ketchup guy? If you think she's the one, savor the flavor. Because if you keep staring at the menu, you're the one who's going to end up as leftovers."

Don't Tread on Me! Join or Die! Design...

Don't tread on me! Join or die! This new design has just been added to the Visualnewbie collection is the Gadsden Snake Crest design. The coiled rattlesnake was taken off the Gadsden, Don't Tread on Me, flag and the legendary saying of "Join or Die" was also added to complete the overall look and feel. I also have the fifty stars within the design to give it a modern take. I also wanted to go in a different design direction than what most are used to seeing...

Gadsden Flag Snake T-Shirt Design

I took one of the coolest looking flags, the Gadsden Flag and created a new shirt design. This time taking just the coiled rattlesnake as the main symbol/attraction for the tee design. Wanting to keep the whole look clean, I also removed the "Don't tread on me" saying that's usually beneath it. This new design that's been added to the Visualnewbie collection is offered in black, white, red, blue, and yellow.

Inspiration: Our Deepest Fear...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. By playing small you do not serve the world, there is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine as children do. It is just not in some of us; it is in everyone. As we allow our own light to shine we unconsciously give other people the permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

"Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" Tee Design

Sometimes we do good things and other times we do bad. When we do these bad things, we tend to blame others for our wrong doings rather than ourselves. So, this new t-shirt design is perfect. Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It! That's right, I'm going to blame not just your ordinary rap or hip hop, but gangsta rap. They've been taking the heat for quite some time, so this shouldn't be something new gangsta rap...

Visualnewbie: Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It T-Shirt Design

I grew up listening to gangsta rap as a youngin, not the stuff you hear nowadays. But rap in the 80's. You know, the hardcore stuff. You really don't hear music like that these days and that might be because it was too real for people. Society as a whole didn't want to hear it. So, I thought it would be fun to poke at the music I grew up with, with this design and some sarcasm. Truth be told, I grew up to be fine, so take that society. It's not about the music, but the person. And the fact that my parents raised me well.

Click on the image above to see a sample of the design on a t-shirt. You can also see the design on a variety of products if tees aren't your thing. Maybe a mug, hat or a bag are your thing. So, check it out.

You can also just go directly to Visualnewbie to see other great tee designs that you may be interested in. You can also follow me on Twitter if you please. That may be the best way to see new additions added to the collection at Visualnewbie.

Dinner: Royal Mandarin in National City

Last week, we had dinner to-go from our old favorite stomping ground, Royal Mandarin in National City. We haven't ate there since they burned down/remodeled late last year and wanted to give it a shot since the reopening over a month ago. I'd be lying if I told you I didn't have any concerns. Many places that have been closed for a good amount of time don't get back to their former glory. Fortunately, Royal Mandarin, the restaurant that I've been going to since I was a small child is still fucking AWESOME!

Dinner: Royal Mandarin in National City: Salted Pepper Chicken Wings

Royal Mandarin is the place that started the Salted Pepper Chicken Wings craze in San Diego. Now every Chinese restaurant sells their own version of it. I don't blame them though, cause they're that great! The Salted Pepper Chicken Wings is one dish that is ordered on a regular whenever I eat there. And I've been eating there for a real long time. This is also one dish that can be found at many Filipino parties across the South Bay San Diego. And I should know since I'm Filipino. The photo above is a picture of the small party tray offered at the restaurant. Oh, and the wings are huge!

Dinner: Royal Mandarin in National City: Mongolian Beef

Then we have the Mongolian Beef (above). It's your standard variety that every Chinese restaurant tends to have. Yes, they're good, but that's not one of their main strengths like the chicken wings. Plenty of beef in the dish compared to other establishments.

We also got the Honey Walnut Shrimp (below). What I like about the way they did it is that they give you the walnuts as a side in a bag instead of them topping it off. Some don't care for the walnuts and feel it's nice not to pick it off every once and awhile. I on the other hand love it. The photo above is about one fifth of walnuts that they gave us. So, there's plenty of nuts for those that want them, just not shown in the photo.

Dinner: Royal Mandarin in National City: Honey Walnut Shrimp

Next, we have is the Shrimp Fried Rice (below). Another dish we always get when ordering from Royal Mandarin. I know it's just fried rice to some, but there's something about it that makes me love them. I really can't pin point what it is. Whatever, it's plain old good! Nuff said...

Dinner: Royal Mandarin in National City: Shrimp Fried Rice

So, in a nut shell, Royal Mandarin is back and better than ever! It's great to see Royal Mandarin up and running again. The place hasn't lost it's step despite the hurdle that they had to overcome late last year. The restaurant is hands down my favorite Chinese food establishment ever. They have the best Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings and as a whole, just delicious! I don't care what anyone else says!

So, do yourself a favor and check them out. That is all... happy eating.

Joke of the Day: Grant you one wish

While trying to escape through Pakistan , Osama Bin Laden found a bottle on the sand and picked it up. Suddenly, a female genie rose from the bottle and with a smile said, "Master, may I grant you one wish?"

Osama responded," You ignorant, unworthy daughter-of-a-dog! Don't you know who I am? I don't need any common woman giving me anything."

The shocked genie said, "Please, I must grant you a wish or I will be returned to that bottle forever."

Osama thought a moment, then grumbled about the impertinence of the woman and said, "Very well, I want to awaken with three American women in my bed in the morning. So just do it and be off with you.' The annoyed genie said, "So be it!" and disappeared.

The next morning Bin Laden woke up in bed with Lorena Bobbitt, Tonya Harding and Nancy Pelosi at his side. His penis was gone, his knees were broken, and he had no health insurance.
God is good.

American and Gadsden Flag Tee Design

This American and Gadsden Flag t-shirt design is one of the latest designs to be added to the Visualnewbie collection. The concept of the design is a split between the traditional flags, while the Gadsden coiled rattlesnake overlaps the Stars and Stripes. It's another design, much like the recent ones, that provokes power and liberty. Especially when looking at the current events going down as we speak...

Visualnewbie: American and Gadsden Flag Tee Design

Check it out by clicking on the image above to view a product sample of the many products displaying the American and Gadsden Flag design. You can also get these designs on darker backgrounds other than white. Or just go over to Visualnewbie to see other awesome designs. More t-shirt designs to be posted soon...

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (WTF) Design

Another t-shirt design has been added to the Visualnewbie never ending collection of awesome designs, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Also known as "What the Fuck!" (WTF). Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is the military's radio phonetics/lingo of the alphabet. Pretty cool and pretty creative. This type of lingo is very popular with the college/young crowd as well as the internet community...

Panda Express 2-Entree Plate for Lunch

Here's a random photo for the day of lunch I had sometime last week. It's a two entree plate combo from Panda Express. Basically fast casual (fast food) Chinese food or should I say American Chinese cuisine to be a bit more politically correct. It's a decent/OK meal when you need to add some calories to the body to last you the day. I personally have a hard time finishing the whole plate by myself. But for the price, it's not bad...

Panda Express 2-Entree Plate

The image above shows what the Panda Express two entree plate combo looks like. As you can see, I split the sides and got the Chow Mein and Fried Rice. I like the variety myself. I also got the Orange Chicken and Mandarin Chicken. Something about eating chicken that I really like that I can't pin point...

Panda Express 2-Entree Plate, Chow Mein

Panda Express 2-Entree Plate, Fried Rice

Here are some details of the food from Panda Express's website...

(Photos Above) Chow Mein: Chow Mein is prepared with whole grain noodles that are tossed in the wok with shredded onions, celery, cabbage, and bean sprouts. Fried Rice: Fried Rice is prepared with steamed rice that is tossed in the wok with soy sauce, scrambled eggs, green peas, carrots, and chopped green onions.

Panda Express 2-Entree Plate, Orange Chicken

(Photos Above and Below) Orange Chicken: Orange Chicken is a dish from the Hunan Province in South Central China. It is prepared with crispy boneless chicken bites, tossed in the wok with our secret sweet and spicy orange sauce. Mandarin Chicken: Mandarin Chicken is a dish from the city of Beijing in the North East of China. It is Prepared with grilled chicken strips covered in a rich mandarin sauce.

Panda Express 2-Entree Plate, Mandarin Chicken

I don't know what Panda Express put in the Orange Chicken. But the Orange Chicken is like crack. Haha! I just can't get enough of it. It's just real addicting and yummy. It doesn't even matter how authentic it is. As for the other entrees. I really don't care much for it. But it's there and it's an ok filler, sort of speak.

Anyways, just wanted to share some random photo of lunch I had about a week ago. Happy eating...

Inspiration: Should do for Themselves

"You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves."

Costco's Hot Dogs for Lunch...

That right there is one of the many reasons why I love Costco. Costco's Snack Bar. The hot dog and soda combo they have for a buck-fifty ($1.50) is a steal. You can't beat that...

Costco's Hot Dogs for Lunch

You know the saying, "if it's too good to be true..."? Well, the hot dog combo and the other delicious selections available just proved it wrong. It really is true. A bargain. It's the kind of meal you can have as a snack, lunch or dinner. Wow! I usually get two dogs since they're inexpensive and give away the extra cup to whoever wants it. For your money, the combo meal is one that really stretches your dollar. And they taste great!

Well, I hope you weren't hungry when you were reading this post. I apologize if you were. If you weren't, you may be now. I just had to share this quick photo I took some time ago. So much awesomeness if you're on a budget. Anyways, happy eating...

Visualnewbie: Welcome Home Designs

As a person with personal experience with a loved one being away for so long as a child, we really didn't have much in ways of having a banner and other decor as we waited for the ship to arrive. So grabbing our dad's attention amongst other Navy/military families as they dock and get off the ship was difficult to do. So, I decided to come up with these designs to help show your support as well as your love in style. They are available at Visualnewbie...

Joke of the Day: Bags Packed

A man came home from work one day to find his wife on the front porch with her bags packed.

Just where the heck do you think you're going!, said the man.

I'm going to Las Vegas', said the wife, I just found out I can get $400 a night for what I give you for free!

The man said, 'Wait a minute!, and then ran inside the house only to come back a few minutes later with his suitcases in hand.

Where the heck are you going?, said the wife.

The man said, I want to see how you're gonna live on $800 a year!

Snacks: See's Candies Summer Variety

Here's my random photo for the day. A opened box of the Summer Variety from See's Candies. My love for everything sweet has grabbed a hold of me as well as for others around me. It's a sickness that I'm not sure I want to cure. Sweets and snacks are my drug of choice and frankly, it's just so damn awesome. I need my fix. Every time I eat one of these small candy treats, it puts a big smile on my face...

Snacks: See's Candies' Summer Variety Candy

Here's a description of See's Candies Summer Variety taken off their site. "See's candy-lovers look forward to this exclusive limited-edition assortment, available May through September, or while supplies last. Summer Variety boxes include See's Apple Pie Truffle®, Key Lime Truffle, Apricot Delight, Cashew Brittle and other summer favorites."

Snacks: See's Candies' Summer Variety Candy

I had to snap these photos real quick before they started attacking the Summer Variety box. As you can see, a few candy pieces are missing as a result of me being too slow to grab the camera. Sigh. Oh well, at least you know they're that good and that people can't wait to take that first bite despite the photographer's (me) feelings and photo outcome.

Until next time, happy eating...

Joke of the Day: Diamond Bracelet

A lady walks into Tiffany & Co. She looks around, spotting a beautiful diamond bracelet. As she leans over to inspect it, she unexpectedly farts.

Embarrassed, she looks around to see if anyone noticed and hopes no one was close enough to hear. As she turns around, her nightmare materializes as a sales person is now standing right behind her.

Cool as a cucumber, he greets the lady with "Good day, how may I help you today?"

Blushing, she says "Sir, what is the price of this lovely bracelet?"

Without missing a beat, he replies "Madam, if you farted just looking at it, you're going to shit when I tell you the price!"

Passion Fruit Ricotta Torte Dessert

A couple days ago was my parents anniversary. Too celebrate the special day, we got them a small cake from Extraordinary Dessert in Little Italy, San Diego. The cake we bought is the Passion Fruit Ricotta Torte, since it's one of their favorite flavors and what do you know, it happens to be one of mine too. As well as from one of my favorite dessert shops. As you can see, it can get a little crazy with all the flowers and stuff for the decor...

Extraordinary Dessert's Passion Fruit Ricotta Torte in Little Italy, San Diego

Extraordinary Dessert's Passion Fruit Ricotta Torte in Little Italy, San Diego

As for the description. The Passion Fruit Ricotta Torte dessert is tropical and light. This torte is also made of ricotta cake layers, soaked with passion fruit juice and layered with passion fruit whipped cream, kiwis, strawberries, and bananas. Just look at it, it's delicious! It tastes better than it looks. My photos of the cake don't do it any justice...

Extraordinary Dessert's Passion Fruit Ricotta Torte in Little Italy, San Diego

I didn't want to keep yabbing on about the dessert. This isn't the first time I've posted about this yummy snack. So, I'll let the photos do the talking. And I'm sure this isn't going to be the last time I'll be posting about it either. It was so good!

Joke of the Day: Extra Effort

I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist when early in the morning I received a call from his office: I had been rescheduled for early that morning at 9:30AM.

I had just packed everyone off to work and school and it was around 8:45.

The trip to his office usually took about 35 minutes so I didn't have any time to spare.

As most women do, I'm sure, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So I rushed upstairs, threw off my dressing gown, wet the washcloth and gave myself a wash in "that area" in front of the sink, taking extra care to make sure that I was presentable.

I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment.

I was in the waiting room only a few minutes when he called me in. Knowing the routine, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended I was in Hawaii or some other place a million miles away from here.

I was a little surprised when he said: "My...we have taken a little extra effort this morning, haven't we?", but I didn't respond.

The appointment over, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home.

The rest of the day went normal, some shopping, cleaning and the evening etc. At 8:30 that evening my 14 year-old daughter was fixing to go to a school dance, when she called down from the bathroom, "Mom, where's my washcloth?"

I called back for her to get another from the cabinet.

She called back, "No I need the one that was here by the sink. It had all my glitter and sparkles in it."

Hanaoka Sushi Rolls for Dinner

This is probably my third or fourth post on Hanaoka and their food. But who's counting? So, it's no surprise that I'm a fan if you've been following my blog. Here are some new photos of some sushi rolls by Hanaoka in National City. More specially, the "Roll on Boat" that they have on menu. The boat consists of a Spicy Tuna Roll (8 piece), Spicy Crab Roll (8 piece), California Roll (8 piece), Shrimp Tempera Roll (6 piece), and Crunchy Roll (8 piece) shown in order...

Sushi Rolls for Dinner from Hanaoka, The Japanese Restaurant in National City

I don't think I need to tell you how good these sushi rolls tasted. Just look at them. I really couldn't get enough of it to be frank...

Sushi Rolls for Dinner from Hanaoka, The Japanese Restaurant in National City

Sushi Rolls for Dinner from Hanaoka, The Japanese Restaurant in National City

Something about Crunchy Rolls in general that I love. It may be the flakes, but I don't think it's that simple. Or maybe it could?

Sushi Rolls for Dinner from Hanaoka, The Japanese Restaurant in National City

We always find a way to make it over to Hanaok's for our quick fix for sushi for lunch or dinner. So, I'm sure these won't be the last photos of the food to share. There's still a bunch of other rolls and entrees that I haven't tried yet. That in itself is a good enough reason to visit soon. But for now, these will do. Until next time, happy eating!

Toys: Surefire X300 Weaponlights...

Bought something nice for myself last week and they just came in a couple days ago. A pair of Surefire X300 High-Output LED (light-emitting diode) Weaponlights to add to the ever growing collection of Surefire flashlights. As expensive as they are, Surefire lights are well worth the price of admission. They're simply the best! The crazy part is, these are the brightest of all the lights I currently have with it pumping 170 lumens at max output for 2.4 hours of tactical runtime, whatever that means. But, here's a pic...

White Chocolate Filled Pirouette Wafers

Here's a random photo of the day image of some white chocolate filled pirouette rolled wafers before finishing it off. Not too sure what brand these were since the only shoots taken of it were at this angle. But I wasn't thinking about that when taking these photos. I just wanted to eat them and boy were the wafer snacks delicious! The rolled treats left me wanting more...

Lunch: In-N-Out Double Double Burger

For lunch the other day, I was craving a burger and not just any burger. I haven't ate a burger in quite some time and wanted this to be a good one. And of course this being SoCal, there's no other place to go than In-N-Out. It's one of my favorite places to get a juicy burger and some awesome fries. The In-N-Out we decided to go to is the National City location, which happens to be always busy and lined full of cars in the drive-thru. I have to say that this is the busiest one in San Diego. So, we had it to-go instead...

Lunch: In-N-Out Double Double Meal in National City, CA

I had a delicious Double-Double burger and the not-so secret yummy Animal Style fries. The Double-Double is two 100% pure beef patties, lettuce, tomato, spread, two slices of American cheese without onions, stacked on a freshly baked bun. The French Fries is fresh cut potatoes done Animal style. Simply awesome! And since I'm watching my figure, I got a regular soda instead of a milk shake. HAHA! Like that made a difference. When you eat a meal like this, this is the last place to go to watch what you eat. Plus I'm a dude and don't care about nonsense like that. Next, some somewhat close-up shots...

Lunch: In-N-Out Double Double Meal in National City, CA

Seriously, as much as I love In-N-Out burgers and feel they are the best in fast-food, quality-wise, my body can't take eating it often. I can only find myself craving it every once in awhile and that's not very often. But the food, it's always good and each trip is always worth it despite the long lines. There's a reason for those lines being long, it's that good! It's a sign that the people have spoken. That is all... happy eating.

Inspiration: Watch your thoughts...

A quote on attitude and midset...

“Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.”

All men dream, but not equally...

One of my favorite quotes that I like to read every once in awhile to remind myself to not stop doing what I'm doing and to keep grinding. Not to be one that just talks, but to be one that do...

“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was only a dream: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, they are the risk takers, for they act on their dreams with open eyes, and make the dreams reality. These types of dreamers are not dreamers at all but the visionaries who rise above the hoping and wishing and through necessity and sheer will power make reality happen.”

Inspiration: Everything you want...

“Everything you want should be yours: the type of work you want; the relationships you need; the social, mental, and aesthetic stimulation that will make you happy and fulfilled; the money you require for the lifestyle that is appropriate to you; and any requirement that you may (or may not) have for achievement or service to others. If you don’t aim for it all, you’ll never get it all. To aim for it requires that you know what you want”

The 30th Annual US Open Sandcastle Competition

Here's some info I received about the event through one of the sent newsletters...

"Cox Communications is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 30th annual US Open of Sandcastle Competition to be held on August 7th – 8th in Imperial Beach in 2010. The US Open Sandcastle Competition two-day event showcases some incredible sand sculptures.

But the competition includes far more than the sand sculptures.

Entertainment takes place throughout the weekend and includes children's rides, a parade through the streets, live music arts and crafts market and numerous food stalls. There's a special Kids-N-Kastles competition on the Saturday afternoon and the day ends with a fireworks display. The serious business of the US Open Sandcastle Competition takes place on the Sunday where sculptors compete for cash prizes. Bring the entire family and enjoy the fun."
