These pictures were taken almost two weeks ago during the UFC 118 Frankie Edgar vs BJ Penn and Randy Couture vs James Toney fight night at the Brew House at Eastlake in east Chula Vista, CA. Better late than never I guess. The original plan was to hit up Eastlake Tavern to watch the fight and eat some grub and pound a few beers. That didn't turn out so well. Right when we got there (Tavern), all the seats and tables were taken. They did have plenty of room to add more seats and tables, but didn't happen.
After giving it some thought with Hoheezee, it was best we find a different spot to go to. As we walked back to the car, we decided to check out The Brew House at Eastlake to see if they're offering the fight. As luck would have it, they are. They didn't have any available seats inside, but they did have a patio out front with a TV showing the fight. Which we ended up taking before it started to get packed. So, here are some shots taken with the trusty BlackBerry 9700...
To start off, we got a pitcher of Hefeweizzen. Just to let you know, their pitchers are on the higher side compared to other comparable places. I guess that's the price you pay if you want to watch a fight. Which we were willing to do so...
(Above) We also got the Calamari Mistro with some sort of dipping sauce for our starters. It's your standard variety and nothing real special. (Below) And we got the Sweet Potato Fries with curry mayo dressing. We asked if they also served it with caramel as a dipping sauce like the Tavern next door does. They didn't, but they did have honey as a side that's not on the menu. So, we gave that a shot and I preferred that to the curry mayo. So may think it's too sweet, but I on the other hand loved it. Besides, I love honey and everything sweet...
I ended up getting the Herbed Roasted Half Chicken as my entree/main course (Below). The chicken is roasted with fresh herbs and is served with garlic mashed potatoes as well as seasoned veggies. The meal was also ok and cooked right, but just lacked a bit on the seasoning side...
My buddy go the Crispy Crisp Chicken sandwich. The sandwich is house made buttermilk breaded chicken breast fried golden brown on a hoagie roll with lettuce, tomato, swiss cheese, and honey mustard. Usually served with Brewers Fries or Coleslaw, but substituted it for Onion Rings. They are beer battered onion rings with chipotle ranch dressing...
Since there were other fights to be shown as we got closer to finishing up our meals, we said "fuck it" and ordered up some desserts so we don't get too bored. By now, the fights were somewhat of a bore and the food was more exciting, even when it wasn't. Now that's just sad...
I got the Brew House at Eastlake's Chocolate Brownie Sundae (Above) and Hoheezee got the Chocolate Bread Pudding (Below). Again, nothing to write home to, but that seems to be the story/case when it comes to the Brew House at Eastlake. Just some ordinary food and nothing creative...
All in all, it was an OK night, but I did wish it turned out better. The fights sucked and was not even close to being entertained. The food was better than the fights, although it wasn't better by much. It did keep us occupied when the fights couldn't so, it wasn't that bad I guess. I left full and stuffed and that's definitely better than being hungry and sick. In my book, mission complete, yet not a total success. So in the end, it could of been worst, but it wasn't...
Anyways, as usual, happy eating!

One of My Favorite Quotes...
“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”
