One of My Favorite Quotes...

“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”

New Epson Promo Box Cutter Knife

I just got the new Epson Promo Box Cutter sometime last week. This is the second utility knife that I got from them when I requested more information on a particular printer. I just love promo goodies from companies like Epson. The first knife I got was in blue and the new one is new black. It comes in a box set with extra blades. It's always nice to have box cutter or utility knives near by. The blue Epson knife gets used a lot and shows no signs of wearing down. So, here are some pics...

Some of the key differences between the new and the old cutters are the handle. The new knife has a more ergonomic shape to the handle. When folded, it also sticks out more which I'm not too fond of. It almost seems like it's not closed all the way when it actually is. It's basically giving it more size when it's not necessary. A happy improvement is the removal of the locking mechanism when folded. I hated that thing on the blue knife. It just got in the way many times. And that's basically it. All the other differences are either too small or not worth mentioning.

The Epson utility knives are great tools to have around. As mentioned earlier, the blue knife gets used a lot. If the new knife is anything like the old one, I welcome it with open arms in the toolbox or art box where any good tool should be. Ready for any task I lay in front of it...

Photos of some Filipino food...

Here are some photos of some Filipino food that was made some time ago. The first photo is a noodle dish called Pancit Malabon, which happens to be my mom's version. And the other is a dessert called Ube "purple yam" Halaya. Usually you'd top it off with coconut or sugar, but this time we mixed it up a bit and added cheese instead. We had an extra block of cheese in the fridge and decided to give it a shot. The cheese was a welcome surprise to say the least...

Duracell Daylite LED Flashlight 3AAA

Got my hands on the Duracell Daylite LED Flashlight and played with it for a couple of hours. This particular flashlight from Duracell uses 3 AAA batteries and produces a good amount of light (80 lumens, 3 watt LED) for what it is, especially with batteries like the AAA. From the small amount of time I did have with it, it's a great general use light that's pretty inexpensive when you compare it to other models/brands. It's no Surefire or even a Fenix, but definitely decent for the average user. So, try not to smack it around too much and expect it to live. It's a worthy light at the $20 mark for sure.

Duracell Daylite LED Flashlight 3AAA

As you can see from me taking it apart, the Duracell Daylite uses a 3 cell battery carrier, which gives it its girth. Despite being a bit thicker, it does have a good feel in the hand and being compact. It's also pretty light, no pun intended. I actually prefer lights around this size for general use. You can also see the knurling on the flashlight body as well as the head. It really does nothing for me and almost feels nonexistent. Not much gripping there. There's also one pet peeve that I have with general use flashlights. And that's a light that doesn't have any anti-rolling features. Nothing sucks more than a flashlight being put down and rolling away from you at the most needed time. More photos here...

Here's a product description from Amazon on the Duracell Daylite 3AAA flashlight... "Duracell's Daylite LED Flashlight features True Beam optics technology to provide innovative high-power LEDs that deliver 80 lumens at 3 watts of power, creating white, bright, smooth light. Easy spot to flood abilities with no dark holes or loss in light quality. Advanced aircraft grade aluminum construction offers durability reassurance. Runs on 3AAA batteries included. Lifetime guarantee from a brand you can trust."

You may also notice the circles near the head of the light. Those circle designs are there to show that it can go from spot to flood with the twist of the flashlight head. To be honest, there's not really much of a difference. At least for me it wasn't. But the twist has smooth transition and no specific notches to land on. Frankly, it's almost too smooth for me. So, it isn't that precise unless you're at the tight spot or the full flood. More photos here...

Duracell Daylite LED Flashlight 3AAA

I just picked up a Surefire 6PX Pro and took a few pics of it right next to the Duracell Daylite flashlight to compare the size. As you can see, there's not much of a difference in the body. The Daylite is thicker and a bit longer. But the head is where we can really show the difference. It's definitely larger than the Surefire. I figure it's for flooding the light. The light that comes out is a nice white light and pretty smooth too. Not bad at all.

All in all, a pretty good light for the masses that just wants a cheap light with plenty of output and easy to find batteries. But if you're used to Surefire type quality, it will disappoint you. So, look into it with an open mind...

BlackBerry Carbon Fiber Logo Wallpaper

I just love the carbon fiber look. I liked it so much that I wanted that look as wallpaper for my BlackBerry 9700 Bold. As usual, I wanted to keep it very professional and clean since I can't stand the cluttered look as you turn on you phone. So that was very important and fortunately I found what I was looking for after some web searches. Perfect! The only thing is I wanted to spice it up a bit by adding color to it. A BlackBerry logo on a carbon fiber background in color...

The above image is the original wallpaper design and not my work. I don't want to take credit for that design. I used it as my base image to change it up a bit into different colors to share with others out there with similar interest. I have them in red, blue, green, brown, and pink.

BlackBerry Logo Leather Wallpaper

More new BlackBerry Logo Leather Wallpapers for the New Year. I wanted to change the wallpaper that I've been using on my BlackBerry 9700 Bold. I want to change it up a bit, but at the same time, I wanted to keep it clean and simple since I'm not a fan of busy backgrounds. Keeping it corporate is the name of the game but adding in a bit of style and attitude for my Bold 9700 is a must. So, I found a wallpaper made for the 9700 that I thought was pretty cool. But, I wanted it in red and maybe other colors to share with everyone. And that's what I did, created them in other colors...

The above image is the original version. Please keep in mind that the original art work isn't mine. I don't want to take credit for it and all I did was created them in other colors that people may want for themselves. So, here is some BlackBerry Logo Leather wallpapers for those that wanted that professional/business look...

These wallpapers were basically made for the BlackBerry Bold 9700. But it should work with other BlackBerry models like the Tour 9630 and the Curve 8900. The sizes of these wallpapers are 480x360. Other models may work, but I'm not sure and you may have to do some research on that. The wallpapers come in six different. Red, blue, green, brown, purple, and pink.

Sushi: Bento and Noodles in Chula Vista

I love sushi of all kinds and that means traditional to fusion type creations. I'm the kind of guy that who just wants good food and basically easy to please. And one of those places that satisfy me enough for sushi in Chula Vista is Bento and Noodles. This time, I had it to-go. I also don't want to make seem like it's the best place for sushi in South San Diego, but decent enough to come back. But man, the Baked Green Mussels are pretty good and it's an item I always get from here. Its two green mussels, crab and scallop baked with spicy dynamite sauce. Delicious!

The other "Specialties" offerings that I enjoyed from Bento and Noodles are the Pizza Maki. The Pizza Maki is baked salmon and crab topped with dynamite sauce. I tend to like almost anything baked from almost any sushi joint. Theirs is pretty decent. I like eating Eel Rolls in general and ended up getting the Tiger Roll which I also liked. The Tiger Roll is eel roll topped with shrimp and avocado.

We also got three additional sushi items that I just thought that was average. It's fulfilling, but average at best. And those are the Volcano Roll that has red snapper, salmon and shrimp broiled with spicy dynamite sauce and masago. The Dragon Roll is spicy crab and masago roll topped with tuna and spicy sauce. I've definitely tasted better versions of the Dragon Roll elsewhere. And then there's the Rainbow Roll which is a California roll topped with shrimp, red snapper, salmon, avocado and tuna.

All in all, Bento and Noodles in Chula Vista is a worthy place for a quick bite to eat for sushi and Japanese food. There are other places in the South County (San Diego) that are better for sushi. But it's one of those places you add for the sake of variety. At least that's how it is for me, so I don't have to keep going to same places all the time. It's worth a shot...

Hello Panda! You're so delicious!

Being self employed or one who works at the desk all day in front of the computer, having snacks at the ready is pretty common. At least that's how I do in my personal workspace. This time around, I have these yummy Hello Panda, Biscuits with Choco Cream chocolate snacks lying around ready to get demolished when I reach a design block. Taking a break while snacking really helps my creative juice flowing. I also can't deny the fact that the Hello Panda packaging design looks fun and entertaining as well as the edible treats.

I grew up eating these sweet snacks as a kid. And still to this day, I still enjoy eating them. Only difference now is that one serving/pack is nearly not enough as an adult. So, I treat myself to two packs if I feel like spoiling my self at that moment for job well done. More often than not, that's usually the case. What can I say?!? Sugars like crack and I'm addicted to it.

Yummy Apple Crumb Pie from Julian Pie

I don't what it is about the area, but some of the best apple pies that I've eaten come from this small town in the mountains east of San Diego. I've tasted my fair share of apple pies and they always rank right up there as being the tastiest. My personal go to spot for pies is at Moms Pie House as I think theirs the best. But the ones that come from Julian Pie Company are a close second. So, here are some photos of the delicious Dutch Apple Crumb pie that I had some time ago...

I just love the crumb toppings on these pies. It's so sugary and sweet. That making the drive from South San Diego well worth it. Besides, to me, the drive going to Julian is just awesome even though it's an hour away. By the time you get there, you're hungry as heck and all you can think about is stuffing your face with these apple pies. Maybe that's why they taste so good, it's the long drive. HAHAHA! The crumb toppings itself are also well worth the trip. It's so darn good...

These day's you don't even need to go out there and drive to Julian go get some pies. They have a network of places to get them that are more convenient for us San Diegans on their website. Places like Albertsons. I on the other hand would rather take the drive out there a see the other side of San Diego County that many people take for granted. It's an experience to say the least. I got to do this trip out there again soon...

Some Sweet Apple Dessert Snack...

I've been a bit busy lately and know that I have been posting much on the blog. In fact, I haven't posted in a week. So, here are some photos of a yummy snack that I don't quite know what to call it. Its slices of apple dressed or should I say braised in some delicious sweet sauce. All I know is that it was outstanding and for some others, I can see it being too sweet. Anyways, here are some photos...

In-N-Out Double Double Burger, Yum!

Not much to say after the headline to this blog post. It's In-N-Out's famous Double Double and Animal Style Fries. The meal that so many of us Californians take for granted and what so many outsiders looking in want so bad. Yes, it's that good and a good price to go along with it. So fresh, so fulfilling and oh so yummy. Enough said and on with the pictures...

Burgers at Five Guys in Point Loma

Grabbed a burger and fries to eat sometime ago at Five Guys Burger and Fires at the Liberty Station shopping complex in Point Loma. It was pretty good to say the least and to be honest; it tasted a lot better than I remembered. I can't pin point what it is since I ordered the same meal. Strange!?! I ordered the regular Five Guys Style Fries and the Bacon Cheeseburger topped with everything. And it was great...

Bacon Cheeseburger @ Five Guys in Point Loma/San Diego

Like I posted months ago, I felt the burger was a bit pricey for what it was or at least compared to its close competitors. Especially when getting it with bacon and not being able to taste the bacon. It be because they chop them, rather than leaving them whole with two or three slices. You might as well order it without and I should have done the same this time around. But the burger was great nonetheless. What Five Guys have going for them are the fries. I usually don't care for fries in general, but I actually really like theirs. I prefer their Cajon style, but the regular ones were just as good. And they give you tons of it in the brown bag that can feed at least for two. Yum!
