Some time ago, we picked up dinner from Red Robin at Plaza Bonita in National City. Haven't eaten at Red Robin in quite some time, why the heck not. We placed our order via phone on our way over there after stopping by Sprinkles in La Jolla so that as soon as you got there, the order would be ready. And you know what; it turned out to be a great idea. Red Robins turned out to be pretty packed inside as well as outside on the patio. But anyways, here are some food shots that I took...
Lately, I've been craving burgers. At this time it was no different. But I didn't want just a burger, but a burger with an egg thrown in there. And I love eating eggs. So the Royal Red Robin Burger was the choice for me. Their description... "This is the aristocrat of all burgers because we crown it fresh fried egg. It's topped with applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, crisp lettuce, fresh tomatoes and mayo". And I must say, it was mighty tasty and have no complaints. But I'm easy to please. I also got some fries and wasn't impressed with them. It was pretty bland and lacked flavor.
And here's a photo of the Caesar's Chicken Wrap. Their description... "Tender grilled chicken breast stuffed in a fresh spinach tortilla, with Caesar dressing, Parmesan cheese, diced tomatoes and crisp romaine lettuce. Served with fresh melon and our Bottomless Steak Fries". I gave this a taste and it was ok. But then again, I never had a chicken wrap that wowed me either. They gave a good amount of chicken in the wrap, which is a big plus...
Then we got the Chicken Tortilla Soup. It doesn't look too appetizing in the photo. Far from it. But that's how it looked as soon as we opened it when I got home. I'm sure it looks better at the restaurant. But man does it taste so good! Give me a big bowl of this stuff and I would have been completely happy with it and I'm not a soup guy at all. It was that good! Their description since my photo lacks the visual effect... "A hearty chicken and vegetable tortilla soup topped with grated Cheddar and Pepper-Jack chesses, sour cream and tortilla strips".
The meals all in all were pretty good. And as usual, I'm not much of a critic. It's easy to please me. But man, I would definitely come back to Red Robin just for the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Yummy!!!
One of My Favorite Quotes...
“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”
