I've been EDC'ing (Every Day Carry) the Benchmade Mini Griptilian for a number of years and it has never failed me. I just love it! But, I wanted to find a replacement which I think is going to be tough. After some reading and searches, I ended up buying a few knives to try out. The Spyderco Tenacious, Manix 2 and Terzuola. With the Tenacious being the least expensive of the bunch and the one that will be used in place of the Mini Griptilian to see how I like it. I'm going to use and abuse this knife. So, this is the Spyderco Tenacious with the G-10 handle and plain edge.
The Benchmade Mini Griptilian to me is a lot smaller than the Tenacious. Especially in the hands and clipped in the pocket and it weight. It has some heft to it. I know the pictures show it a bit, but it's a whole different feeling. That's something I got to get used to. I'll be honest, I feel awkward at times pulling it out to do some general cutting duties out in public. You know, like cutting a piece of fruit or opening packages and stuff like that. People tend to shy away at those types of things. And the Mini is kind of stealthy like that which I took for granted in some ways. For the most part, that doesn't bother me and I'll continue to carry it. More photos here...
The photos don't show it, but I changed the clip location to what you see on the Benchmade. I carry tip-up. It's just something I'm used to and have always done. You can change the clip location so you can carry tip-up or tip down and switch them if you're right-handed or left-handed. Whatever is your preference. I also love the handle material. With this kind of material, I maintain a firm grip on the knife at all times. The smoothness and quickness of the blade deployment is awesome. So smooth and flicks fast! And as usual, it comes out of the box very sharp, shaving sharp. More photos here...
If you're looking for an awesome knife, well you're in luck. The Spyderco Tenacious is the best value for your money. It's pretty inexpensive and can be found around the $30 mark with some effort. Thirty you say? Yup, it helps that the Tenacious is made in China. But don't let that fool you; you wouldn't know it from the build quality. It's solid and has no play in the knife. I highly recommend this knife to anyone and would buy again.

One of My Favorite Quotes...
“The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”
